Cleaning expert Mariya Gurkova at Fantastic Services shared how she avoids ironing her ends.

Instead, she opts for common household items that work equally well.

One money-saving technique involves nothing more than taking a hot shower.

“Taking a hot shower while hanging wrinkled clothes in the bathroom will help them naturally straighten, as the steam penetrates the fabric fibers and makes them more flexible,” she explained.

“An alternative to shower steam is a kettle, boil the water and hang your clothes a foot away from the steam.”

Another home appliance that helps remove wrinkles is a dehumidifier.

“Dehumidifiers can also indirectly reduce wrinkles in clothes by removing excess moisture from the air. However, steam is more effective,” Gurkova added.

One option, she said, is to completely remove wrinkles as the first step in the drying process.

“The drying process after washing clothes can also be aided by fans to reduce wrinkles as they promote airflow through the clothes, helping them dry quickly and evenly,” she said.

To help with wrinkle removal, the expert shared a recipe for a quick and easy anti-wrinkle spray.

My smart cleaning tactic means you only need to dust your house once a month – mix 3 ingredients you already have

“Using wrinkle spray in conjunction with these other techniques can relax the fabric more, making the spray more effective at removing wrinkles,” she explained.

“Simple household ingredients like vinegar and water mixed in a spray bottle can make a spray to remove wrinkles.”

For those who don’t have access to an iron, Gurkova shared other improvised solutions using common household items.

“Place the wrinkled item in the dryer with a damp towel or a few ice cubes and set on medium heat for about 15 minutes,” she said.

You can also use a hairdryer to remove last-minute wrinkles. Simply dampen the wrinkled area of the garment with water or an anti-wrinkle spray.

“Steam will be generated inside the dryer by the moisture in the towel or ice cubes, which will help loosen wrinkles and smooth the fabric. When dry, fold immediately to avoid ironing.”

Those who need smooth, wrinkle-free clothes, but don’t have time to spare, can ask a hairdryer for help.

“You can also use a hairdryer to remove last-minute wrinkles. Simply dampen the wrinkled area of the garment with water or an anti-wrinkle spray,” she said.

“Use the lowest setting and stretch the fabric well as it dries. Flat irons can help remove creases from small sections of clothing.

“You can also use a hot pan, boil water in a medium pan and pour in when hot.

“After pressing and smoothing out wrinkles in the fabric, carefully use the bottom of the hot pan as it cools quickly.”
