A SAVVY homeowner’s decision to save money on his property backfired when his wife learned of his tainted story.

She fled, demanding they sell the house after finding out what had happened before they moved out.

Editor Pleasant_Tear3205 shared the story of her home in a viral post.

The 34-year-old explained that nine years ago he was presented with a price for a house that he felt he couldn’t pass up.

“I was lucky enough to come out of college debt-free with a highly lucrative degree and wanted nothing more than to live on a few acres of land in a quiet house with my dogs,” he explained.

“For months I looked for a few different real estate agents in different cities near my place of work.

“Finally, a real estate agent asked me if I would mind if the house had a little history. I said it would depend (I wouldn’t want anyone to show up with a baseball bat to collect an unpaid debt).

“He then said there was a murder-suicide in the house a few years ago.”

The tragic story may have scared some people, but it didn’t bother him.

“I didn’t think much about it and agreed to see the house. Within three minutes of arriving, I knew it was perfect for me,” she recalled.

“It has four bedrooms and two bathrooms and sits on three acres. The asking price was $481,000, which I knew was a bargain.”

The house, he explained, had been heavily discounted to compensate for its troubled past.

I wanted to redo my room, so I had to change the wardrobe, but I was surprised when I made a horrible discovery behind it.

“The realtor agreed it would have been at least $100,000 more if it weren’t for the fact that a high-profile crime had occurred,” he said.

“I made an offer of $445,000 and, miraculously, the owner agreed. I haven’t thought about what happened in the house more than a few times since.”

Five years later, he met the “love of his life,” Jennifer, who quickly fell in love with his home upon seeing it.

“We got married last year. The other day, Jennifer was at the supermarket and talked to an elderly woman,” he said.

I didn’t think much of it and agreed to see the house. Three minutes after arriving, I knew it was perfect for me.

“The woman asked where she lived and Jennifer described the place. Apparently the elderly lady said to her, ‘Oh, the old Johnson house? Terrible what happened there,’ and she explained everything.’

His wife rushed home in a panic to tell him the news, but was shocked when she discovered he already knew.

“Jennifer was flabbergasted and said she couldn’t live in a place where something so terrible had happened. I replied that this was what she had been doing for a year and a half,” he said.

“[She] He dramatically ran away from home with a suitcase to stay with his parents. She keeps calling me, discussing selling the house and then hanging up on me.

“She seems really upset that I didn’t tell her, but like I said before, I legitimately didn’t care enough to remember.”

People agreed with him that the incident should not be a hindrance to them.

“You had the house years before you met her. It’s not like you’re hiding it from her,” said one commenter.

“It never came up because you don’t think about it. I don’t have any advice for your relationship with your wife, but [you’re] not the idiot, in my opinion.”

“I wouldn’t think twice about living in a house like that. Most old houses probably contained dead bodies at some point,” said another.

“Even in newer homes, there’s a good chance an older owner died in them.

“Not to mention that there are human bones scattered throughout the land.

“If your wife wants to go where no one has died before, suggest she volunteer to be one of those people who colonize Mars.”
