A British lawn care fan has criticized Americans for their lawn striping techniques.
They felt that the Americans were using the wrong cutting equipment to cut the grass and it showed.
Editor Hpsauce92 shared their gardening and lawn hack in a viral post.
“You Americans don’t know stripes,” they said.
“Your lines are just that… wheel lines.”
One photo revealed his own lawn with freshly cut gradient stripes.
The controversial review triggered a battle of wills and blades (of the grass type, of course) in the comments section.
An American felt that his technique was too time consuming and could only be performed on a smaller lawn.
“Lol, imagine having to cut just 14 blades of grass,” they said.
Others agreed that they laughed a lot at the photo.
“Imagine [having] own a lawn mower for 14 blades of grass,” said one.
“Imagine having to water just 4 stripes. A wet dream”, agreed another.
“He could have used nail clippers!” joked a third.
Others agreed that the Redditor simply didn’t have enough stripes, lawn or otherwise.
“Four full stripes? You need at least 13 to be worth nothing”, joked one.
“I’m waiting until the off-season to put on a striping kit. But your lawn looks like a golf course,” said another.
Why You Should Stripe Your Lawn
There Are Many Benefits to Lawn Laying, According to Home Depot blog.
In addition to being visually appealing, the technique encourages lawn owners to reseed their lawns.
Dedicated lawn care fans, which continuously change the patterns of the lawn, help stimulate the growth of its blades.
The lawn layout also keeps the grass at the same height, which helps the entire lawn receive an adequate amount of sunlight.
Less experienced lawn owners can also use their striped lawns as a guide when planting new grass seed or fertilizing.
“There’s a patch of grass sticking out of your sidewalk,” joked a third.
“Hmm, they look like lines on a baseball field. Do you know baseball? The American sport?” she added a room.
The Redditor took the jokes in stride, but doubled down in defense of himself.
“This post went crazy. All in good spirit,” they said.
“To all the people who say I’m wearing a strip kit, I’m not.
“I have an Atco Clipper 17 and it’s a cylinder cutter. Rotary cutters just don’t cut as cleanly.
“The bed on the left has already been leveled and seeded. As soon as it’s ready, I’ll share another photo of my fifth track”, they joked.
