A PET sitter vented her fury after being repeatedly bitten by a dog of the same breed.

She vowed to never sit with the canines again because they are “aggressive” towards anyone except their owner.

Rover is an app that connects pet owners with services like boarding, pet sitting, doggy daycare, and dog walking.

A babysitter took to Reddit’s RoverPetSitting forum under the command you/sim_mango_ to complain about your recent experience.

She said Chihuahuas made her believe that a dog’s aggression isn’t always the fault of a bad owner.

“This is the fourth Chihuahua I have dog-satured since joining the app and the fourth Chihuahua that has attempted or successfully bit me,” she said.

“I’m always very cautious and patient with them, taking hours or even days to let them feel comfortable around me.

“Lots of treats, lots of space, friendly conversation and no sudden movements around them.

“I had a 12-day stay with a chihuahua owner who made an effort to walk his chihuahua with me three times before my stay so the dog would be comfortable around me.

“Apparently this wasn’t enough because the dog was super aggressive and anxious towards me for the first 5 days and refused to let me put a collar on him AND refused to go out because the dog door scares him (he’s 10 btw). .

I’m a dog expert and there are three small breeds I would never recommend owning – one of which is literally the devil himself

“So I spent every day cleaning his pussy at home and kept trying to put the collar on him.

“He finally calmed down after a while and started to trust me and then one day, while I was cuddling with him on the couch, he turned around and bit me aggressively and ripped my skin.”

The Redditor said the experience left her angry and scared.

She was confused as to why anyone would want to have a dog that is cruel to everyone except its owner.

“You can’t have people over,” she said.

“You can’t let other people take care of the dog.

“You have to make sure your dog doesn’t go after kids while walking outdoors, especially since kids love touching cute puppies.

“I just got tired of Chihuahuas… all the Chihuahuas I observed were aggressive while their owners just jokingly said, ‘Oh, well, he’s just a typical Chihuahua, haha.’

“Has anyone else experienced this or am I just unlucky?”

Signs that your dog may become dangerous

Expert advice from Dr. Sara Ochoa, who has practiced veterinary medicine for over five years.

Ochoa told The US Sun that observing a dog’s behavior can provide clues that he may act out.

“A dog that appears completely tense, with its fur sticking up or its teeth showing, is more likely to snap,” she said.

“Looking closely without blinking can also mean problems.

“Growling is also a warning that the dog is getting angry.”

She said dogs may tuck their tails between their legs when they feel scared or threatened.

“Remaining calm and maintaining space can help things not escalate if a dog appears nervous,” she said.

Responses to the post were mixed as people shared their experiences with race.

“I’m always a little cautious around Chihuahuas and keep an eye on their behavior at meet and greets,” one person wrote.

“I had problems with some, but they can be very kind (sometimes [laughing]).

“I will IMMEDIATELY refuse if the owner refers to their dog as a ‘typical chihuahua lolz’ even though to me that means they don’t care if their dog is misbehaving.”

“As the owner of several Chihuahuas, it is 100% of the breed [laughing],” said another.

“I’ve had dogs that have literally been all over the country, handled by different people, exposed to everything and still hate and bite strangers on purpose!

“They are one person/family dogs and have that terrier spirit.”

Other commenters described Chihuahuas as “sweet” as they defended the breed.

“I had a chihuahua and she was the sweetest dog ever!” one person said.

“She loved everyone, especially if they were new! It’s definitely a problem with the owner not socializing properly.

“Personally, I think people should get certified to own a dog.

“Many dogs are put down because the owner does not know how to train or treat the dog they acquired.

“Dogs or any pets are not toys, they are living beings that need love and guidance.”

According to American Kennel ClubChihuahuas are small, intelligent dogs that require a “firm but gentle” approach to training.

They can be up to 20 centimeters tall and weigh less than 6 kilograms.

Owners may have to carry their Chihuahua if he begins to pant and has difficulty keeping up during walks.
