A CANINE expert has shared the breeds they would never own, as well as a controversial breed they love.
The veterinary technician named the eight types of dogs they don’t recommend keeping in the home.
Commenting on a Reddit publishuser Thekaiserkeller discussed the pets he would choose and the ones he would avoid.
The vet explained that they have an unexpected favorite breed.
They described a variety of breeds as having “wonderful personalities.”
This list included golden retrievers, Papillons and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
“Pitties are good too, especially the small, squishy ones,” the original poster wrote.
Pitbulls are considered controversial due to their sometimes aggressive nature towards other dogs and humans.
However, experts in Useful pet explained that the breed can be “a reliable and loyal companion” when properly trained.
The dog expert also named the breeds they would never own.
The first type named was the pug, a popular breed with several health problems.
PetMD shared some of the most common problems associated with the breed.
“Pugs are prone to many health problems. The majority are related to their brachycephalic conformation”, they explained.
Experts have listed overheating, respiratory problems, allergies, ear infections, dental disease, eye injuries, and hip problems as some of the common problems with pugs.
Likewise, French bulldogs, also included on the vet tech ban list, face a variety of problems.
In addition to being subject to the conditions faced by pugs, PetMD cited some other problems that occur in French people, including sensitive skin, birth problems, back injuries, cataracts and eye problems.
The original poster also advised against owning a Boston Terrier, another breed prone to a wide variety of health problems.
Signs that your dog may become dangerous
Expert advice from Dr. Sara Ochoa, who has practiced veterinary medicine for over five years.
Ochoa told The US Sun that observing a dog’s behavior can provide clues that he may act out.
“A dog that appears completely tense, with its fur sticking up or its teeth showing, is more likely to snap,” she said.
“Looking closely without blinking can also mean problems.
“Growling is also a warning that the dog is getting angry.”
She said dogs may tuck their tails between their legs when they feel scared or threatened.
“Remaining calm and maintaining space can help things not escalate if a dog appears nervous,” she said.
The experts in PDSA detailed some of the problems faced by the popular terrier.
They face kneecap problems, airway abnormalities, birth problems, hypersensitivity to allergens, hormonal disorders and dry eyes.
Labradors, another classic breed named by the veterinary technician, are also known for having health problems.
Pet specialists in Purina revealed that these problems can include hip and elbow dysplasia, arthritis, and hypothyroidism.
Reddit users also named “any type of doodle” as a forbidden furry friend.
Dog experts spoke to Average about how unpredictable mixed breeds can be when it comes to health issues.
“When mixed with the Poodle, a breed that also comes with its own genetic predispositions, it is almost impossible to predict the health of the children,” they explained.
They also named “little white dogs,” which can include the Maltese and Bichon Frize breeds, as a type to avoid.
Small canines are known to suffer from eye problems as well as digestive disorders, according to the ASPCA.
Finally, huskies and German shepherds have been listed by veterinary technology as breeds to avoid.
Both canine types are prone to a variety of problems, including food allergens and epilepsy, reports Alpha Paw.
