Rebeca (@happyheartgardens) detailed the hack in a viral roll On Instagram.

She recommended the tip to protect plants when the cold arrives unexpectedly.

The gardener used a cheap trick that can be done in seconds.

“Here’s one of my favorite tricks for protecting tender flowers during a cold snap,” she said.

HOW IS IT DONE

First, she filmed her garden, which was complete with some delicate floral plants.

She demonstrated the trick with nasturtiums – an edible flower.

After learning of a cold snap on the way, she took matters into her own hands.

“I was able to cover it with one of those mesh baskets from Dollar Tree,” she said.

Once you’ve put the cheap mulch over the nasturtiums, your job isn’t done.

She placed a grow bag on top of the basket, securing it in place with landscape pins.

She attested to the effectiveness of her technique in the caption.

“This garden hack with a mesh basket and grow bag has saved a lot of plants for me,” she said.

CROWD REACTION

Several Instagram users weighed in on Rebecca’s horticulturist’s workaround.

Lidl shoppers are wild for ‘stunning’ bargains that will transform your garden for less than £9

“Grow bags saved my baby avocados and dragon fruit last winter from hard freezes,” wrote one.

“I also mulched because the temperature was dropping quickly.

“I’m thinking about buying the fabric and making tall fabrics for the larger tropical species that shouldn’t survive my winters.

“This idea was a game changer for my property.”
