A BARGAIN shopper shared her big kitchenware savings.
Spectators praised his thrifty spirit; one said her thrift store collection was “incredibly impressive.”
Editor Vcl010595 shared their purchases in a viral post.
They showed off their seven-piece Le Creuset cookware in one photo.
Six of the pieces appear to be a complete set, with matching red and orange ombre designs.
While a similar five-piece Le Creuset cookware set in the same design typically costs $575, the Redditor could get hers and more for a fraction of the price.
“All saved for less than $200,” they said.
“The darker orange to red ombre pieces are vintage and were purchased as a set,” they added.
“The stacked set, bottom left, was found together as a set but has lost most of the ombré coloring.”
Although they worried that the freestanding orange pot was an imitation, they were not too worried as the quality was comparable.
“While I know imitations exist, any tips on how to spot them?” they asked.
“The ones left without ombré give me pause, but they cook and clean like the real thing. Can they lose color in the oven?”
Le Creuset fans said they had nothing to worry about.
“They lose color over time, especially if people put them in the dishwasher,” one said.
“Congratulations on your thrift store [finds].”
The Redditor was relieved to hear the good news.
“It makes sense to put them in the dishwasher! I only wash by hand, but I understand the need to just throw them in the dishwasher and call it a night,” they responded.
Some were impressed by his thrift ethics and asked him for advice.
“This is incredibly impressive,” said one commenter.
“Great discoveries. Good cuisine. Any [thrifting] tips [you are] willing to share?” they asked.
“Thanks! Patience is my only real tip – the rest is luck,” said the Redditor.
“There are four or five thrift stores in a sort of loop near my house. It takes me an hour, once, sometimes twice, a week to stop by. Happy hunting!”
