It’s officially time to start sprucing up your garden so it’s ready in time for summer.

Fortunately, hardware stores are selling great bargains so that those with a garden don’t have to shell out large amounts of money.

In fact, shoppers are rushing to B&Q to Photograph score a bargain at 75 cents that will spruce up your garden in no time.

Adriano Lock went to Facebook group Extreme coupons and bargains in the UK group to help others make their gardens beautiful this summer.

He wrote: “So for anyone looking for plants, herbs or vegetables for the garden.

“B&Q in Chelmsford has had many plants reduced by 75% of the full price.”

He discovered a good amount of discounted outdoor flowers and plants at a fraction of the price.

Adian wrote: “So nine small factories £3 up to 75 cents.

“My fiancée also got some free begonias that the guy was throwing away.

“Most of them looked good, they just need to be left to soak in a little water and the ones that fall will be as perfect as rain”

The gardening fan said B&Q offered “so many options to choose from”.

He managed to get his hands on Trailing Labella, Petunias, and Veberna.

The post was liked more than 80 times, with many rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One wrote: “Good thing I’m not there then I would destroy the store.”

Another also recommended a different B&Q in Peterborough to find bargains.

They said: “Peterborough has had reduced loads this afternoon of all types. 50 percent close to everything.

“Nothing wrong with most of it, it just seemed like an attempt to get rid of it quickly to make room for new stock.”

A third added: “Sometimes the prices are better than the garden center and they work well when watered.”

Others were tagging their close friends to share the great bargain.

The Sun’s gardening expert Veronica Lorraine previously revealed how shoppers don’t need to shell out a lot on plants.

May gardening work

The Sun’s gardening editor Veronica Lorraine shared the tasks you need to get done in May.

GARDEN growth can go from zero to ninety in May, depending on the weather. The last frosts in the UK usually occur at the beginning of the month, so suddenly there is so much more to do and grow.

Plant dahlia tubers

It’s a joy to finally plant your dahlia tubers. Keep in mind how big they can get—and space accordingly—anything up to two feet apart.

It’s a good idea to invest in your backing bets now rather than trying to work around them.

And be sure to include lots of well-rotted manure or decent compost to feed it, and then mulch it to keep it moist and suppress weeds. They usually start to bloom in July.

Final feeding for spring flowers

You can give any remaining tulips and daffodils a cheeky feed.

While most bulbs are no longer guaranteed to come back year after year, as long as you let them die naturally, there’s a good chance they’ve stored enough energy to come back again. Tomato feeding is fine.

Tie climbers

Your clematis, honeysuckle and rambling roses should already be well underway – try using plastic string to tie them back to the support or clip them together to ensure they don’t sprout in crazy directions.

Feed the lawn

It’s not too late to give your lawn a good nourishment.

Whether you use granulated or liquid, it can be a good boost to get you through the harshest summer months.

When mowing the grass, do not shorten the length of the cut too much and never shorten the height of the grass by more than a third.

Be creative

It’s also time to get creative when hanging baskets and pots.

Pelargoniums, which many people call geraniums, and begonias are a good, low-cost way to get beautiful flowers that return all summer long in your baskets.

And the pots can be planted with spring bulbs.

Don’t forget the greenhouse!

Give your greenhouse a good tidy and clean the glass inside and out.

The improved light will help plants grow faster inside, and the tidiness is good for the soul.

You can simply use a homemade solution of white wine vinegar and water – or even plain if you’re tired – which gives a really nice shine.

She revealed how the RHS Chelsea Show Garden costs £180,000 to set up and even turfing your lawn can hit your pocket where it hurts.

Veronica’s clever tricks can help you save a fortune on gardening.

She recommends Googling ‘free compost council’, as councils “across the country are currently turning their green waste into compost and are desperate to give it away for nothing”.

Verônica recommends checking first if you need to make an appointment to attend and bring your own shovels and bags.

Another important tip she recommends is to convene the community.

Community Gardens and Orchards organize open days where they get rid of surplus plants and also give free advice.
