A HOMEOPER has warned people about a plant that has become invasive in their homes.

Although they thought everything was fine when they moved in, he has now taken control of their home’s foundation.

Editor Abbs_twothou shared the gardening tip in a viral post.

A bamboo plant left by the previous owner, they explained, had become the bane of their existence.

Although they initially thought the plant was harmless, they quickly found themselves, well, mistaken.

“Someone before me planted 15-foot-tall super-invasive bamboo in their yard,” they said.

“It was spreading so violently that it was lifting the granite pool and growing under the foundation of the house.”

They added that the previous owner’s gardening mistake had branched out into their lives in the worst possible way.

“You could see the remains of some sort of ‘barrier’ where they initially planted it, obviously not knowing how bamboo grows,” they groaned.

“I didn’t know myself until I bought the house. Absolute nightmare.”

Bamboo experts have mourned the hapless Redditor, with some sharing possible next steps they can take.

Some explained that the situation could be even worse than they thought.

“It’s worse than that. It’s impossible to control this,” said one of them.

“You have to remove one completely, and [by] completely, I mean every bit of the root.”

They explained that bamboo plants were known to be extremely resilient.

“After I pulled mine out, I was still digging up new shoots for the next six months,” they said.

“Often, the new plant would literally grow from the inch and a half of root that I had lost. Think of each little bit of root as a new seed.”

One commenter detailed the lengths to which his parents went to get rid of a bamboo plant before giving up.

“My parents have had a cassava stump in their backyard for about 20 years,” they said.

“They salted it, chlorinated it, chainsawed it and every other diabolical destructive method. It’s still putting out new shoots.”

“A guy once told me that bamboo is like a cold, slow fire that is alive. If you don’t control it, it will destroy everything,” said one wise commentator.

“The best way to get rid of bamboo is to move,” joked another.
