AN interior designer has revealed budget-friendly tricks that help make a home more expensive.
Her expert tips include everything from wall and furniture colors to easily forgotten accessories.
Many homeowners have begun renovating their spaces after completing their annual spring cleaning.
Excessive spending is not necessary to give homes a refreshed, luxurious feel.
Jim Evans is one of the heads of a luxury interior design company Uber Interiores and Design by Uber.
In conversation with The US Sun, he shared several home updating tips.
BOLD DECORATION
Evans said an initial design decision has a major impact on the appearance of a home.
“I think it all comes down to smart choice of colors and materials,” he said.
“Decorative walls are an incredibly easy and affordable way to create a feeling of luxury in your room.
“A big splash of rich colors can help give the room a classic or contemporary feel, depending on the color palette.
“Designing around this wall, placing adjacent rugs, or hanging your favorite piece of art showcases that area of the room as a statement piece, adding a bit of grandeur.”
FABULOUS FURNITURE
Evans said stylish furniture can enhance a space, but it’s important not to overdo it.
“Avoiding clutter is equally important when making a room feel refined and spacious,” he said.
“Cutting out unnecessary furniture and objects also helps your budget go a little further.”
He recommended choosing artistic lighting and accessories that complement the overall color scheme.
If white isn’t the color scheme you’re looking for, perhaps stick to light shades of light blue and green.

“One or two pendant lights could be installed without breaking the bank,” he said.
“These pendant lights help enhance the ambience, especially when combined with the surrounding furniture and colors.
“When thinking about furniture, whites and off-whites are often used to help make a smaller space appear larger.
“Combined with a natural motif in the room, like wood floors, potted plants, etc., and flooded with natural light, white or off-white sofas really help to open up the space.”
Evans revealed that other pastel colors can be equally effective in achieving the desired look.
“If white isn’t the color scheme you’re looking for, then perhaps stick to light shades of light blue and green,” he said.
“A soft, calming sea green sofa, for example, when paired with earthen or wooden furniture, gives a small room a slightly more open and airy vibe.”
