Redditor NoMaybe3163 shared the family drama in a viral post.

She explained that she normally has a “decent” relationship with her in-laws.

“She’s very sweet and warm. She is, however, a little… too controlling? Overprotective?” she said.

“I’m not sure of the exact word, but she has very strong ideas about things and has no sense of limits.”

In the past, the Redditor has been angered by her mother-in-law’s reckless behavior, even when she does sweet things like preparing food for them.

“For example, when she stays at our house she completely takes over the kitchen and insists on cooking all of our meals,” she said.

“She cooks wonderfully, but she won’t let me help her and keeps everything in the wrong places – and then insists that her way is more logical.”

The Redditor explained that her mother-in-law offered to stay for six months while she was pregnant to help prepare for the baby.

After arriving, she immediately began “cleaning” the house, but the Redditor was angered by her despicable behavior.

“I like collecting things from garage sales and things like that. Things like small sculptures, books and baskets, things that many people would consider complete trash,” she said.

I met my husband after my best friend got a lapdance from him at a Magic Mike show – he sleeps with other women but I trust him completely

“Our house is definitely overcrowded, but it’s reasonably tidy and doesn’t look like a collector’s house or anything.

“My MIL, on the other hand, likes everything surgically clean.

“Yesterday I got home from work and found the house to be a war zone, she went through my closets and removed everything she considered trash, and apparently made several trips to Goodwill before I got home.

“I got really angry and asked her why she would do that. She said the house has to be tidy for the baby and that it would be ‘dangerous’ for the baby to be in my messy house.”

Her mother-in-law threw away not only cheap clothes from her closet, but also small bags of her coin collection, a collection of geodes, two shelves of fancy china, an antique wooden desk with a typewriter, and two “ugly” end tables. . along with other miscellaneous decorations.

As she watched her mother-in-law take out the next bag of her belongings, she explained that she couldn’t help but lose control.

“I kind of lost it and told her she could leave right now. She was shocked that I was serious and said she had nowhere to go and it was too late. I booked her a hotel room and called a taxi,” she said.

“My husband came home an hour later and when I told him what happened, he was furious with me. He says I disrespect his mother and I’m ungrateful for everything she’s trying to do for us.”

On a to updateshe explained that a conversation helped resolve the conflict after she and her husband calmed down.

The two picked up their mother-in-law at the hotel the next morning.

After an honest conversation, the Redditor set boundaries with his father-in-law.

“She was definitely irritated, but she went along with everything and didn’t argue. So I think it will work out,” she said.

“Unfortunately I couldn’t get my things back… but I have a lot more hidden gems.”

People shared their reactions to the situation – many said she handled the situation much better than they would have.

“You are a much kinder person than me. I wouldn’t let her come back to my house until she got all my stuff back from Goodwill,” one commenter said.

“Yes, literally the least MIL could do,” agreed another.

Others encouraged her to continue standing strong in the future.

“Very mature result on your part, but don’t be afraid to correct immediately or shout again or it will snowball!” said one spectator.
