“A rug that is too small can look disproportionate and make the space feel cramped, while a rug that is too large can overwhelm it.
“Look for a rug size that is proportionate to the size of your furniture and outdoor area.”
For a neutral-themed outdoor patio, the stylist recommended opting for a bold-colored rug or print to help it stand out.
“On the other hand, if your outdoor space is already filled with vibrant colors, opt for a softer rug to balance the look,” she said.
“Place outdoor rugs under prominent pieces of furniture, like sofas, dining tables, or lounge chairs, to anchor the space and create a focal point. This helps tie the furniture together and creates a sense of unity in the outdoor area.”
Updated flooring, like leftover laminate, can also change the look of your patio.
Constantinou added that fairy lights are a staple decor item.
“Nothing makes a space more inviting than fairy lights, so they’re a must if you want to enhance the look of your outdoor area,” she said.
“You can place them on the floor or even wrap them around railings or seats, perfect for adding a cozy atmosphere on warm nights.
“Solar-powered lights are a great addition as they can draw power from outside during the day and illuminate your space when the sun goes down.”

A little greenery, she added, goes a long way toward making an outdoor space feel more outdoorsy.
“You can add plants to your porch or garden fence with the appropriate planters and fill them with a variety of colorful flowers,” she said.
“Not only is this great for wildlife, but it also creates a space that makes you feel more like you’re in nature.
“If you have a shady spot, try planting begonias, busy lizzies, and hydrangeas. For those with more sunlight, you might try planting coleus, zinnias, and pelargoniums.”
Last but not least, refreshing the furniture you already have with a fresh coat of paint can freshen up your pieces for another season.
“Try using bold colors to liven up the space, which will also make what you already have stand out,” she said.
“You can then add some outdoor-friendly cushions to your chairs to add another extra layer of comfort.”
