I live in a tiny house – we were able to pick it up and move to another state, but the dedicated bathroom can be annoying

HOME is where the heart is — or where you can move yours, apparently.

For a tiny home dweller, being able to pick up your house and take it with you is a plus, but there can also be some smelly situations along the way.

Editor Sbayz92 explained how perhaps the best thing about living in a small space is that they can move around easily.

“I’ve been living in mine for four years. The first two years alone and the last half with my wife,” they said.

“We are moving the tiny house from California to Oregon this summer,” they continued.

They explained that the house was a “great setup” for their lifestyle.

“I travel more than four months a year,” they said.

“Plus, it’s nice not to have a huge mortgage to pay while you’re away – pay $400 a month,” they continued.

They explained how they “saved money” by owning the house and renting the land – all five acres of it.

While considering moving to the West Coast, they considered investing in a more traditional home, but realized it was a little out of their budget.

“We tried looking for a few months, but the market is really crazy and expensive right now,” they said.

“Total waste of time and, frankly, wouldn’t have been worth it,” they continued.

I won’t pay a penny in rent after turning a trailer at the bottom of my parents’ garden into a tiny house – it only cost me £5k to do that too

Instead, they decided to remain faithful to their little home for at least the next few years.

“Our house will be 20 minutes from my parents’ house and closer to our friends,” they said.

“My suggestion would be to go tiny if you travel a lot, want to save money, or don’t want to rent/own a basic home,” they continued.

“Oh, and most importantly, if you have somewhere to put it.”

Still, not all is fair in love and tiny house life.

Some of the biggest drawbacks included the bathroom situation.

“Dealing with composting toilets is annoying,” they said.

A compostable toilet is capable of transforming solid waste into compost, according to Green Affairs.

The device creates an “oxygen-rich” environment, allowing bacteria to break down waste.

You will save water, but you will also have to empty the waste container – manually.

They also complained about the lack of privacy – and storage.

However, they found a solution using an outdoor storage shed.

Another Redditor was grateful for the inside advice.

“That’s what I’m wondering — whether I should pursue a tiny house or a down payment on a house when I have a more stable income. I also live in California,” said one Redditor.
