Editor Confident_major_8934 asked the question on the social media platform.

“Looking for advice on decorating the bedroom in my new apartment – any tips?” they asked.

“I just moved into a new apartment and am looking to give my room a new vibe.

“Normally I’m not a big fan of decor, but I’m feeling inspired to change that.

“Any tips, ideas or inspiration you can share?

“The room is a 13 by 11 rectangle with a bay window on the back wall.

“There is also a six-foot entry/closet on the wall opposite the bay window wall.”

SOLID ADVICE

Another Redditor gave their own tips for maximizing a smaller space.

First, they recommended examining the functionality of the furniture as well as doing due diligence on the library’s decor.

They added some tried-and-true advice from a decorator friend.

“For important furniture pieces, look for ‘low pattern/high texture,’” they said.

“Add accent colors and prints to accessories like cushions and small upholstery, which can be easily changed if your tastes change.

“Learn about the rule of thirds. It will add balance and comfort to your space.”

They also included some decorating tricks for their own spaces.

“My tips – not by section”, they warned.

“I’ve seen so many posts here from people who have moved or want to reorganize, and the section is inflexible and impossible to work with.”

They recommended an alternative to purchasing a large piece, like a sectional sofa.

“Invest in flexible furniture,” they said.

“A small to medium-sized sofa, an ottoman, which can be a footstool, table, storage.

“Small chairs, swivel or with casters.”
