LIVING off the grid isn’t for everyone, but one woman says she couldn’t be happier with her decision.

His family, on the other hand, was less than understanding of his unconventional home and lifestyle.

Editor YakEuphoric1189 shared the family drama in a viral post.

“I’ve been off the grid for four months. Last month, I opened up to my twin sister about this (whom I trust deeply),” she said.

“We just turned 27 and she has a similar mindset about breaking out of the system, but she’s not ready to take the leap yet.”

Although her twin sister empathized with her, other family members were not so kind to her decision.

“Recently, one of my other sisters gossiped that she thinks I’m ‘homeless,’” she said.

“Now my whole family keeps contacting me in a worried way, thinking they are helping.”

She explained that the delayed situation only caused her problems.

“Little do they know, I’m happier than I’ve ever been and their contact is just making me stressed,” she said.

“I don’t need your negative/different views of the world trying to pull me back into the system.

“For those who have been through a similar situation, what do you suggest?”

Many who have experienced similar situations when going off the grid have shared their advice.

One person provided a word-for-word response to his worried family.

“My lifestyle is not for everyone, and their lifestyle is not for me. If you are genuinely concerned or interested [in] me and my life, let’s plan a visit”, they said.

“When people really need to make an effort to back up their displays of ‘concern,’ they often just live and let live,” they explained.

Little do they know that I’m happier than ever, and their contact is only making me stressed.

“Most of the time, I recognize their ignorance and realize that I’m too busy to educate people about something they won’t take seriously or care about.

“Let them be wrong. We’re too busy being awesome.”

Others felt that sometimes offers of help should be considered, especially if it is monetary.

“If they offer money, take it,” said one commenter.

“I came here to say exactly that. If they even remotely mention sending monetary assistance – take advantage of that,” agreed another.

“Hell, I would actively ask that of those who won’t leave you alone the first time you ask.”
