THERE IS a perfect match for everyone – even two twins joined at the hip.
And what better match for a pair of identical twin sisters than identical twin brothers?
Kerissa Sealby spoke to The US Sun about how she and her twin sister Vanessa dated and married another set of twins.
Although they are now clearly embracing their dual status, it wasn’t always this way.
The mother of one recalled how she and her sister struggled with similarities throughout their childhood and adolescence.
“We always wanted to be so different, even though we just aren’t,” she said.

“We always thought we had different tastes in guys, I hated her boyfriends and she hated mine.
“It just never worked out, they never understood our relationship as twins either.”
Although some classmates thought it would be “so cool” if Kerissa and Vanessa ended up dating twin brothers, the sisters didn’t share the same enthusiasm.
So it was rather reluctantly that they agreed to a double blind date with another set of identical twins.
“We were thinking, ‘Whatever, we’ll be their friends. It’s cool to be connected to other sets of twins and they just moved to the area,’” she said.
Kerissa admitted that neither sibling ever thought they would end up dating twins.
However, when his now brother-in-law Lucas had strep throat, he ended up in an urgent care clinic.
He struck up a conversation with his doctor, who later sent him a message suggesting that he and his twin brother, Jacob, kill their personal trainer and his twin brother.
The two brothers and two sisters met that same night with some hesitation.
“Me and Vanessa were thinking, ‘Eww, we’re not dating twins, this is so weird,’” Kerissa said.
“But the moment we laid eyes on each other, I just gravitated toward Jacob and Vanessa gravitated toward Lucas and it was like, ‘Yeah, that’s it.’”
HEAD – TIMES TWO
Both women returned home excited about their new games, while Jacob and Lucas, both medical assistants, called their parents to say they had both found the one.
After the initial double date, they decided to go out individually to get to know each other better.
Six months later, the two couples made it official, and soon the four adults were living together.
“I actually made a post on my Instagram when she got married saying, ‘I’m going to miss having the same last name as you for eight months.’

Their relationship continued on similar trajectories, with Kerissa and Jacob getting engaged in December 2021 and getting married in June 2023.
Vanessa, who accepted Lucas’ proposal in January 2022, officially changed her surname in October of the same year.
“I actually made a post on my Instagram when she got married saying, ‘I’m going to miss having the same last name as you for eight months,’” Kerissa joked.
BROTHERS OR COUSINS?
She and Jacob also welcomed daughter Sophie in August 2022, with her cousin Adrian joining a little later.
The sisters hadn’t considered their children’s unique DNA situation until it became a reality.
“We didn’t really think about how our children would be genetically the same until I had Sophie,” Kerissa recalled.
“Vanessa was trying to get pregnant and [we joked]’Actually, you could technically be Sophie’s mother.’
My sister is like a mother to my daughter and I mean, genetically, it’s like that too.

“And technically, I could be Adrian’s mother and people would never know if they looked at our DNA.”
Technically cousins, but genetically brothers, the children had some moments of doubt when identifying their parents.
Speaking about her daughter Sophie, Kerissa said the child was better at differentiating her mother and aunt.
“Sophie is old enough to tell the difference, but she got a little confused with her dad and Uncle Lucas,” she said.

“It’s funny, she has this relationship with her uncle, she loves him, but she plays with him more.
“She gives him dirty looks and runs away [but with her] Dad, she’s the complete opposite.”
Another perk of having your sister and brother-in-law so close, in fact next door, is having full access to the nanny, Kerissa said.
She also highlighted that all holidays and vacations can be spent together as there is no need to divide time between multiple in-laws.
“My sister is like a mother to my daughter and I mean, genetically, it’s like that too,” she said.
We know that we are always there for each other and it has been that way our entire lives.

“If I need to bring my daughter and leave her, I can and she is the same, there is no need to plan.
“We know we are always there for each other and have been that way our entire lives.”
IN GENES
The sisters, who work together in a real estate agency, have a family history of twins.
“My grandmother was a twin too,” Kerissa said.
“She had recently passed away when we met [Jaoband Lucas] and then my mother cried and felt as if our grandmother had sent them to us.”
What are quaternary twins?
Genetically, the four children are known as quaternary siblings, which is a rare occurrence.
This is when cousins have matching DNA, like siblings.
The children share the same DNA as brothers and sisters, but are still technically cousins.
Children can also even share similar looks.
Quaternary twins are born less than nine months apart between two pairs of identical siblings.
Scientific experts do not technically refer to the children as “twins.”
She referred to the chance meeting as “divine intervention” and said she couldn’t imagine a life where her twin sister wasn’t also her sister-in-law.
And although the couples may receive some ignorant comments online insinuating that their situation is incestuous, they are eager to share their story further.
