A DOG handler has started to notice how some dogs are gaining weight.

They shared how the two breeds in particular were not only starting to change shape, but also exhibiting bad behaviors.

They were taking note of the noticeable changes they had witnessed.

“Anyone else buying big Scotties lately?” the groomer asked in a post on Forums for Pet Groomers.

“In recent years, Scotties and Westies have become larger and have much heavier bodies,” they added.

And that wasn’t the only difference they noticed in the dogs.

They explained how her legs also seemed to be getting shorter and more “crooked” in the front.

They also blamed pet parents for at least some of it.

“And then the owners fatten them up,” they said.

“I can barely do the front paws on them anymore.”

They also had to face another poignant problem.

“And they stink – really oily coats and tons of skin problems that are horrible to cure,” they said.

“Really moody too.”

They certainly weren’t making his job any easier.

“Scotties have large, heavy jaws and large teeth,” they said.

“They don’t snap – they actually bite down hard and fight their snout and bang their head until they get it out.”

They weren’t sure if the modifications were being done on purpose by the creators, but regardless of the reason, they wanted to stay away from these problematic types.

“I’m afraid they’re going to get hurt or I’m going to hurt him just trying to fight him for doing the feet,” they said.

“After taking care of one, I can’t get the stench off me and everything has to be washed.

“Ew! Disheartening Scotties and Westies.”

The Scottish Terrier is a solidly compact canine according to American Kennel Club.

The average Scotty is 10 inches tall, with males weighing up to 22 pounds and females weighing an average of 18 to 21 pounds.

Signs that your dog may become dangerous

Expert advice from Dr. Sara Ochoa, who has practiced veterinary medicine for over five years.

Ochoa told The US Sun that observing a dog’s behavior can provide clues that he may act out.

“A dog that appears completely tense, with its fur sticking up or its teeth showing, is more likely to snap,” she said.

“Looking closely without blinking can also mean problems.

“Growling is also a warning that the dog is getting angry.”

She said dogs may tuck their tails between their legs when they feel scared or threatened.

“Remaining calm and maintaining space can help things not escalate if a dog appears nervous,” she said.

They are described as known for their short stature and wiry coat.

These hunters also enjoy brisk walks.

Meanwhile, the West Highland White Terrier, known as the Westie, should weigh between 13 and 15 pounds, according to the American Kennel Club.

The ideal proportions are 11 inches at the withers for males and 8 inches for females.

They are generally known for their “good balance”.

Its body between the withers and the root of the tail is slightly shorter than the height at the withers.

They are also short and have a rounded appearance.

Another user could relate to your story about one of the breeds.

“I love Westies, I do, and the three Scotties I see are all very nice, but one is huge – he weighed 35 pounds at the last vet visit – and another has these terrible legs,” they wrote.

“She had to have metal plates put in both of them because of some weird bone disease,” they added.

The commenter also had issues with another breed – the schnauzer.

“They all look alike and scream bloody murder if you touch their beards or try to shave their heads or ears,” they said.

“They are all purchased from puppy stores and are less than a year old, so I’m betting on bad breeding. Your situation is probably the same. Greedy people breeding poor quality dogs for profit.”

Yet another shared their own horror stories.

“There was a basset and Scottie mix that used to come into the store I was in. That thug was like a Scottie on steroids. He was huge and nasty,” said the commentator.

“Mal, not a good dog, unpredictable, big horrible teeth. I refused to touch him and watched another handler go to war with him every time he came in.”
