A WOMAN has sparked fury after revealing she earns by flogging cheap things she found at car boot sales and then selling them for 15 times the price.
Vinted – one of the fastest growing platforms where cash-strapped Brits can make money selling their favorite products, be it clothes or technology.
Among its astronomical 16 million users – almost a quarter of the UK population – is also TikTok user Ella Jordan (@.jordan).
But instead of flogging her own old gear, the young woman recently revealed that she sells items she and her boyfriend purchased at car boot sales for cheap.
Ella regularly shares her success story on social media, proudly showing off the items the two have achieved – as well as how much they’ve resold them for.
In one case, Ella shared a recent clipthere was even a huge margin after the couple flogged £1 Nike trainers for 15 times the price.
Other items the pair have sold so far include another Nike trainers that the boot seller gave them for a fiver – and the couple fetched them an impressive £35 on Vinted.
So those who need it most will suffer
There was also a pair of gray Levi’s trainers that came with the box – Ella and her man bought them for £6 before flogging them online for £25, making almost £20.
Among the items sold was also a pair of bright yellow Clark hiking boots that they spotted in the car boot sale for just £6.
After placing them on the popular platform where Ella had initially priced the item at £30, they were able to sell them for £20.
There was also a basic striped t-shirt with the iconic Ralph Lauren logo on the side – this cost the pair just a pound before they put it on sale for £7.
“Car trunk finds,” said Ella, proudly displaying just some of the goodies the money-saving couple managed to whip up without spending a fortune.
However, the video – which earned the couple more than 722,000 views – soon sparked fury among social media users.
One person criticized the couple for flogging cheap things with a high profit margin, asking them to stop.
”Please, do not do that. Car boot sellers will start raising prices if people keep selling products to make a profit.
”Then those who need it most will suffer.”

Another also wondered why Ella was sharing her Vinted account details, asking: “Why would people want to go to your Vinted knowing you probably bought it for 50 cents.”
“Let’s hope no one on your Vinted sees this video,” said another person.
A fourth joked: “You’ll be on Dragons’ Den in no time.”
After being brutally criticized, Ella rushed to hit back at the trolls, writing: “It’s a fair profit margin, yes I got a good deal but they are still getting the items for very cheap.”
She added: ”I closely monitor how much I earn per tax year and I’m still nowhere near 1k, as soon as I get close to 1k I will declare [her Vinted page as a business].”
