While they were away, they rented the house to another family, but when they returned they realized they had no more belongings to fill the house and they also didn’t have the money to pay the mortgage.

Therefore, they made the decision to move into the garage and continue renting the house.

Speaking with HouzzTVBryan said he was initially worried that the neighbors I would think they were crazy, but they said they all love the space.

The couple’s garage has an industrial feel, as they did everything by hand.

Bryan taught himself how to weld and make garage furniture, such as chairs and tables.

The couple wanted everything in the garage to have dual use, so they created a breakfast bar that extends to the dining room table.

They also have ladders that double as storage cabinets.

The family that rents the house pays the mortgage, so Bryan and Jen live in the garage rent-free and mortgage-free.

The couple now have a business that helps others create their own tiny homes.

Jen described her garage as a “beautiful Zen sanctuary.”

“It’s also a cheap life!” she added.

Social media users praised the couple and their garage home.

Commenting on a video of the garage on YouTube, one person said: “I love this! Mainly the message.

“Downsize, do what you love. The space is perfect! The size, the aesthetic! Amazing!”

A second person said: “I don’t normally care for industrial aesthetics, but this tiny house is just stunning!

Tiny House FAQs

The tiny house movement started in the US before gaining popularity in the UK.

What is a tiny house?

Tiny homes are small, fully equipped spaces designed to lead a more sustainable, off-grid lifestyle. Although they vary in size and shape, tiny houses tend to be between 15 and 50 square meters in capacity, are made from sustainable materials, and are easier – and cheaper – to maintain than traditional brick homes.

Are tiny houses legal in UK?

As long as the tiny house does not exceed 19.8m x 6.7m in size, it is defined as a caravan in UK law. Therefore, tiny homes are classified as legal additional living space.

Can you get a mortgage for a tiny house?

The small size and relatively low cost of tiny homes means they are generally not considered eligible for a mortgage. However, there are many options for taking out a loan to finance your dreams of a perfect mobile home.

“In fact, it feels incredibly spacious and not at all small.”

A third person said: “This whole video made me smile!! What a beautiful couple and what a beautiful house.”

A fourth added: “This is definitely one of the best tiny houses I’ve ever seen!”
