And an experienced woman has shared the simple way to make dull, patchy lawns look their best again.

Instead of spending hours gardening, she had a simple trick that works itself and will transform your lawn in a matter of weeks.

She said: “The infamous TOILET PAPER GRASS HACK.

“This little trick works perfectly every year to fill in those little holes in the grass. Have you tried it?”

In a bowl, she mixed toilet paper, water and clover seeds to create a thick solution.

She then applied the solution to any dead or bald patches of grass in her garden.

She said this works particularly well if you have dogs that go to the bathroom on your lawn, as the urine can kill the grass.

The gardening genius added that clover was his seed of choice as it was resistant to dog urine and made lawns super green, but you can use regular grass too.

“Just mix and place the paste on the posts in your yard,” she revealed.

“Toilet paper keeps your seeds in place and also keeps them Cool It’s humid.”

She said you want to keep the paste wet for two weeks, watering every other day.

To keep it safe from the dogs, she places a chair on top of the patch until it works its magic.

Seasonal Lawn Care Schedule

Lawn care varies from season to season, with some tasks helping to stimulate root growth and development, while others help maintain soil quality.

Claire Baglin, Landscaping Category Manager for Tool Station shared lawn care tasks and tips for each season:

Spring (March April May)

• Start mowing your lawn biweekly in March, when soil and air temperatures typically reach above 6°C.
• Fertilize your lawn for the first time in March, using some nitrogen-rich quick-release fertilizer to help promote seedling growth.
• Scarify your lawn for the first time in April to remove any moss or thatch that may accumulate over the winter.
• Aerate your lawn during April by making holes in the surface of the soil. This will help loosen the soil and encourage growth.
• Overseeding can also be done during April to patch thin or bare grass areas.

Summer (June July August)

• From June start mowing the lawn once a week – except in periods of extreme heat and drought. Increase the cutting height to protect the grass from possible drought.
• In June, be sure to treat the lawn for weeds – this can be done manually for individual weeds or using an herbicide for larger groups.
• During July and August, water your lawn at least once a week, letting it soak for 5 to 10 minutes.

Fall (September October November)

• From September onwards, reduce the frequency of mowing your lawn to once every two weeks and make your last mow of the year in November.
• Fertilize the lawn a second time in October, using a slow-release fertilizer rich in phosphorus and potassium to strengthen the lawn.
• Throughout October and November, remove all fallen leaves and other debris from the surface of your lawn.

Winter (December January February)

• From December until the end of February, leave the lawn alone. Grass typically does not grow in colder winter temperatures.
• Winter is the perfect time of year to perform any lawn mower maintenance, including checking the blades and filters.
