So if you’re thinking about buying a reclining sofa or leaning your sofa against a wall, you need to listen up (and prepare to be attacked).

The interiors professional took to social media to share her thoughts and posted her clip with the caption ‘Things I wouldn’t do as an interior designer’.

She then explained why she doesn’t like reclining sofas, saying, “I know I’m going to get a lot of comments on this one — I wouldn’t put reclining furniture in a main room.”

Courtney stated that she doesn’t think reclining sofas are practical as they need space to recline.

Instead, she advised people to opt for a recliner if they want to put their feet up.

Courtney then added, “I just think that’s so ugly, I’m sorry, I said that, I know people are going to disagree with me, that’s my professional opinion and I’m going to stick with it.”

Not only that, but Courtney revealed the mistake many people make by continuing: “I would never push furniture against the wall – I don’t know why people keep doing that.”

Instead, Courtney shared that your living room will be a lot more “interesting” and “conversational space” if you pull the chairs forward a bit.

Plus, Courtney shared why she would never have matching furniture in her living room.

She explained: “I don’t care how good you get it, there’s no personality in it, I think people do it because it’s safe, they think because it fits it must work, but it doesn’t. .”

Instead, she advised that furniture “should coordinate but not match.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @CourtneyungarodesignIt clearly left many speechless as it quickly racked up 109,000 views.

BIG DIVISION

But social media users were sharply divided over Courtney’s claims – while many agreed, others were quick to share their opposing thoughts.

One person said: “Reclining sofas are also really tacky.”

Another added: “Wow, I actually agree with all of this!”

A third commented: “With you 100% in the matching set.”

More Interior Design Trends to Avoid

IF you want to ensure your home looks glamorous, here are the trends interior designers can’t stand.

NOT YELLOW: According to Bilal Rehman, painting yellow in a room is a big no-no.

He said: “If you want everyone to know that you are a horse girl, then yellow is perfect for you.”

SIGN OFF: Kelly Hoppen shared her honest thoughts on the Live, Love, Laugh signs.

The interiors professional explained: “Another complaint of mine – Live, Laugh, Love – those kinds of wooden things that go on bookshelves and floating shelves, that was 10, 12, 15 years ago.”

DON’T GRAY YAY: Julie Provenzano explained that the gray interiors were overdone.

She emphasized, “We took a good thing and exaggerated it to the point that now it feels like copy, paste, basic.”

But at the same time, a woman wrote: “I have to be comfortable. I’m too old to care.

Another added: “I don’t agree with moving away from the wall, it would be too small.”

While another person wrote: “I breastfed my baby for 16 months, the reclining sofa was an absolute necessity, especially in the newborn days.”
