On TikTok, she said: “I spend three hours a day working and then spend the rest of the day going out to eat and relax with friends because I now make four times my old corporate salary.

The busy mom explained that she makes money through affiliate marketing, which involves promoting other people’s products online.

For every sale made after a person clicks on a link you directed them to, you will receive a commission.

“This one is great if you’re broke and don’t have a lot of time,” she said.

Melanie explained that one of the companies she does affiliate marketing for is Amazon.

Demonstrating how to sign up to do this, she said you need to go to the Amazon website and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Then, in the “earn money with us” section, click on the “become an affiliate” link.

You will then be directed to sign up for a free account.

NextGo back to the site and search for a product you would like to promote.

Melanie chose some garden furniture as an example and chose a product that was selling very well on the website.

Once you click on the product and click the ‘text’ button at the top of the page, you will receive a unique affiliate link.

To promote the product, you can set up a Pinterest business account.

Paste the product image and description onto the Amazon website and add your affiliate link.

“That’s really important, because that’s how you’re going to get paid,” she said.

Do I need to pay taxes on my secondary income?

MANY people who feel strapped for cash are boosting their bank balance with a side hustle.

The good news is that there are many simple ways to earn some additional income – but you need to know the rules.

When you are employed, the company you work for collects tax on your earnings and pays HMRC so you don’t have to.

But anyone who makes extra money, for example by selling things online or walking their dog, may have to do it alone.

Stephen Moor, head of employment at law firm Ashfords, said: “Care should be taken if you are earning additional income as it is likely to be taxable.

“Side hustles could be treated as taxable business income, which could include the provision of services or the sale of products.”

You can earn a gross income of up to £1,000 a year tax-free through the business allowance, but beyond this you will usually need to pay tax.

Stephen added: “You need to register for a self-assessment with HMRC to ensure you are paying the correct amount of tax.

“The applicable tax brackets and the amount of tax you need to pay will depend on your income.”

If you don’t file a tax return, you could receive a surprise bill from HMRC later asking you to pay the tax you owe – plus extra fees.

Now, whenever someone clicks on the link and buys the product, you will earn money.

Melanie’s video, which was posted under the username @melthe.affiliatelikely left many impressed as it racked up over 885,000 views on the video-sharing platform.

TikTok users rushed to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on her tips.

One person said, “I need help so much I’m fed up with the way I’m living.”

Another person said: “How do I start?

“I’m desperate for extra income.”

A third said: “Amazing!”

A fourth added: “Fantastic!”
