A SAVVY woman has been showered with praise after revealing how she transformed her garden on a budget.

Alexandra Rowe, from Worcestershire, decided to give her run-down summer home a total shine using nothing more than a lick of paint and cheap shopping from the likes of Primark, B&M and Temu.

And with prices starting at 38 cents, it’s no surprise that people are crazy about the end results.

In a post shared with both ‘Gardening with an official budget‘ and the ‘Colorful, maximalist home decor inspo‘ Facebook groups, Alexandra posted a photo of what the tired-looking summer house looked like before she started working on it.

A faded shade of green, it looked in desperate need of some TLC and a total eyesore at the end of the garden.

But after embarking on her mission to transform it into the new focal point of her outdoor retreat, Alexandra proudly showed off the final results.

Giving it a whole new ‘boho’ vibe, she painted it a stunning shade of lilac and injected a pop of color by painting the interior walls green and adding a selection of bold and vibrant accessories – including pink benches and a bright red ‘love’ cushion.

Alongside the photos, she wrote: “Just finished renovating my summer house.

“I did it all in my own bar, my kids helping with a little painting here and there!”

She went on to say that the DIY project cost £100 in total, including paint.

“Some of the decorations I already had, but other pieces are from charity shops, Primark, Homesense, The Range and Temu.

“I couldn’t be bothered to paint the floor, so I used a tablecloth and stapled it.

“I used a blanket to cover the old covers and spray glued them on!”

She added: “Easy and I’m so happy with it!”

And for anyone looking to follow in Alexandra’s footsteps then you’re in luck, as she revealed exactly where she picked up the bargains and how much they cost.

Among the items she bought at Primark were £2 fairy lights, £2 green candles and a blanket to cover her sofa cushions, which cost her £12.

She also bought a heart cushion from Homesense for £12, while she bought a £4.50 tablecloth for the floor from The Range, along with a £4 metal sign and a £6 doormat.

Oh my God! That is all!

Meanwhile, the white table cost Alexandra just £6 from B&M, the outdoor rug was £6.99 from Aldi and the 38p glow in the dark ceiling lights, £1.73 butterflies and £3.78 tapestries were all from Temu.

It didn’t take long for the post to be flooded with comments from very impressed social media users.

“This exudes natural living and boho vibes!!! I hope you make the most of this space”, praised one.

Gardening work in June

The Sun’s gardening editor Veronica Lorraine has shared the tasks you should tackle this month.

Mark leggy perennials

With all the dramatic weather we’re experiencing, it’s definitely time to stake out your leggy perennials (the ones that come back every year). Heavy rains and growth spurts can cause them to collapse and fail.

Choosing Slugs and Snails

Hopefully as we move into summer they will cause less damage as the plants grow. The best way is still to go out at night with a headlamp to find them.

Choose Elderflower Heads

You can use them to make your own cordial, or add to cakes, champagne or even fry them in batter.

Stay on top of the weeds

Now is the time for weeds to really grow in the garden, so control them with weeding – or just the traditional ‘on your knees with a fork’ approach. Try to avoid chemicals – remember that weeds are just plants in the wrong place.

Above the cut

You will need to mow the lawn weekly now – if you have time, remove the weeds in advance as once you mow you cut the leaves and they are harder to see.

Check your tomatoes

Your tomato plants will need attention – regularly water, feed and pinch off side shoots.

Chelsea Chop

There’s still time for the Chelsea Chop – plants like Rudbeckia, Asters, Penstemons, Sedums and other perennials can be cut back by a third to help them get a little thicker and extend the flowering period.

Arrange your tulips

If you can be bothered and have space, lift and arrange your tulip bulbs to ensure color next spring.

Deadheading your roses

Get them to the first set of healthy leaves – which will ensure more flowers for longer.

Enjoy your space

Take some time to sit and enjoy your garden or outdoor space – it’s great for your mental health. Even just a few minutes a day can make a big difference.

A second enthused: “Absolutely loved it – you were amazing!”

A third noted: “The lilac shade is my favorite color at the moment! I think it’s such a happy color.

Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “Simply fantastic. Well done. I loved!!!”

Another agreed: “Absolutely beautiful!!! Xx”

And another added: “Wow! That is all!”
