A WOMAN has been labeled a “genius” after revealing how she saved hundreds of dollars on a standing desk.
Standing desks have become increasingly popular in recent years, with many people choosing to use them alongside a treadmill for walking while at work.
But they’re not cheap, and you’ll be looking at forking out around £200 if you want to buy one.
So it’s no wonder Holly’s hack caused a stir online.
The florist took to TikTok to share a video explaining the clever trick, as she wrote over the top: “If you’ve ever thought about buying an electric standing desk, stop right there and look at me.”
She then showed herself by placing the ironing board and laptop on top of it.
Once she was done, she used the bottom of the ironing board to lower it.
He then pulled out the chair and placed the laptop on top, showing how it could also be used as a “normal” table.
“Don’t worry about me, alone at home, solving urgent problems with genius solutions!” Holly captioned the video.
And people in the comments section were quick to praise her for the ingenious trick.
“Genius! Could you get me a walking mat too?” one person wrote.
“I mean… honestly, this is a great way to test if a standing desk is really your thing!” another said.
“You’re on the right track here,” commented a third.
“You inspired me,” wrote another person.
“Excellent problem-solving skills here,” added another.
“My God, why didn’t I ever think of that!” someone said.
“This is very clever,” wrote another.
As another said: “Wait… I have one of these that I never use! Now I have a new use for it! Thank you.”
“Put it to use ASAP!!” Holly replied.
“Omg you might be thinking of something…changing the top with a block of wood to make it bigger,” someone else suggested.
“Built-in wrist rest too!” another added.
“That’s GENIUS!!” someone said.
While another wrote: “OMG how have I not seen this video before?
“Such an easy and free solution. How come I never thought of that?”
But others pointed out problems with the practicality of Holly’s idea.
“Good for laptops, but definitely needs the desk when you have more gear,” wrote one.
“This doesn’t suit esport/corp-wfh girls, but it’s smart for small settings,” added another.
“Except you can’t actually lean on him or put a drink on him,” insisted a third.
“You can buy something to put on top of an existing table if you want a whole table.”
“Unfortunately an iron board isn’t big enough, I need to use two monitors, I’m always logging in and out of different systems to get information as well as taking notes and I’m a gamer so I bought the standing desk,” a third added.
“2 monitors, a laptop, a docking station, a bunch of cables, notepads… I’ll opt for a standing desk,” wrote another person.
