A WOMAN has shared how her garden renovation turned into a nightmare after eagle-eyed TikTok fans noticed something horrifying.

Ebony, from Scotland, took to social media to share the discovery, which she wouldn’t have known about if it weren’t for TikTok detectives.

According to the woman, who saved a fortune by gardening herself, the property’s wooden deck was surrounded by large holes – and unfortunately, there was a dark reason behind it.

As pointed out by others on the platform, there was one culprit for the damage – pesky rats that had invaded the yard and made the deck their new home.

“When someone messaged me, I had no idea about it,” Ebony said in her videosharing the sorry state of the dilapidated wooden structure.

After hearing the news, the Scottish woman decided to contact “a ratman” who placed poison under the deck in a desperate attempt to put an end to the “rat gate”.

Another cause for concern for the pair was rats potentially dying under their deck – which would leave their garden stinking.

To avoid the problem, the couple decided to get rid of the original deck and replace it with stunning slabs.

Meanwhile, the old wood paneling was repurposed and transformed into a chic bar stool, which her DIY-loving partner painted light gray.

According to Ebony, who posts under the username @ebonomariakayThey planned to oil the deck afterward and attach a stylish pergola so she could enjoy “the sound of rain” without getting wet.

The backyard transformation also included raised wooden beds, which Ebony’s own partner put together and wanted to paint gray.

Equally horrified, people flocked to the comments to share their thoughts and it wasn’t just the Scottish duo who tackled the issue.

One person wrote: “Now I know why we have big holes around us.”

Someone chimed in, noting that the problem was common: “Anyone with decks seems to have them.”

A third rushed to reveal how they had tackled the rat infestation, writing: “The rats come back to the same race every year.

”I made Renton kill every year in an old house where I lived, they love the deck, it’s their favorite place, maybe invest in a cat.”

Meanwhile, another said: ”One treatment won’t be enough, but it all depends on how much he’s put under the deck.”
