A WOMAN has told how after spending “99 per cent of her life” explaining her name She decided to change that.

While we don’t have much say in our names at birth, we can always change the nickname later in life – which is exactly what a woman wants to do.

The social media user explained how her mother named her Kyrie-E-Leison after Mr Mister’s 80s bop when she was medicated during a C-section.

Sharing her troubles on Reddit, she said: “My name is Kyrie-E-Leison.

”That’s my entire first name. Hyphenated and all.

While the mother may not have given the nickname much thought when naming the baby, the woman explained how her life essentially became hell.

“It became a pain to do normal things like getting my driver’s license, applying for jobs, etc.”

To avoid “embarrassment”, especially when meeting new people, the woman has stuck to the name Kyrie – however, she stated that people often pronounce it incorrectly.

“I spent 99 percent of my life explaining my name. By the way, it’s not pronounced Kai-Ree, but rather Key-Ree.

”I didn’t know how to write my full name until the 3rd grade.

”My middle name is Dusk. My sister’s middle name is Day, and my mother’s middle name is Dawn.”

Commenting on the post, one Redditor said, “I know someone else named Kyrie (kee-ree-ay, like Mr. Mister’s prayer/song), I think it sounds good as a name, but the hyphens seem like they would be complicated!

Embarrassing Baby Names: From Teenage Wrestler to Deceased Grandfather

”Have you ever thought about switching to Kyrie Eleison?”

Another user chimed in: “My name is Valkyrie and I’m Kyrie, pronounced like yours.”

Another person said: “One of my old bosses had a daughter named Kyrie, pronounced kee-ree-ay.

“She told me it was ‘like music.’ I’ve never heard that song and I’m older than her daughter.

”I have no idea what you’re referring to, but somehow pronouncing Kyrie as kee-ree-ay seems a lot less burdensome than whatever her full name is!”

Are unique baby names worth it?

The Fabulous deputy editor reveals the turmoil she faced with her own name growing up.

When I was a kid, all I wanted was one of those personalized keychains with my name on it.

But no joy, the closest I could find was Rosie, Joseph (not very good for a girl) and Joanne.

Josie is short for Josephine, which is a French name, and I managed to reach my 20s without ever meeting anyone who shared it.

When I try to introduce myself to people, I get all sorts of random things – like Tracey and Stacey – which can be really annoying.

Although I’ve come into contact with a few Josies over the past year – there seem to be a few of us around my age – it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends.

Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or poorly written.

And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just referring to myself as Josie.

I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname, as it’s not seen as very cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not as attached to Griffiths as I always said’ hi, it’s Josie’ when calling a friend.

I think it’s good to be unique and I will definitely try to replicate that when naming my own children.

It’s the rude names you have to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist, I’ll definitely avoid them.

The inspiration behind the nickname – Mr.

Mister had some of the most popular ballads of the 1980s.

The US rock band was formed in 1982 and has enjoyed incredible success with major international hits with the songs Broken Wings, Kyrie and Is It Love.

Unfortunately for fans – including Kyrie’s mother – the band broke up in 1990 and haven’t performed live since.
