TWO best friends have revealed they live off the grid in a tiny house and praised the affordability of their lifestyle.
Casey and her best friend Savannah, who posts online at ‘Hey Wanderer’, put a shed in the middle of a plot of land they gathered.
Over the past two and a half years, the friends have turned the place into a home for themselves and their pets – seven chickens, two dogs and three cats.
Their vision was to “make the shed feel like a home and not a storage shed” and they dedicated all of their DIY projects to giving it a “homely feel.”
The best friends are originally from Nashville, but their new off-grid home is in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee.
They make a living from blogging and content creation, sharing regular updates online about their tiny home transformation.
Now, the pair have shared an insight into the cost of their 350-square-foot home, leaving many speechless.
Posting online, the friends explained: “With each completed project, it feels more and more like home.
“We’re making the most of every inch of space we can.”
Sharing a breakdown of their monthly costs for living off the grid during the summer, when it comes to getting firewood for cooking and fires, the pair explained that it costs just $12.50. [£9.80].
When it comes to electricity, the pair have covered their roof with solar panels, meaning their monthly costs are £0.
Online, the couple pays R$70 [£55] per month, while propane gas, which they use for cooking and heating water, costs US$17 [£13].
Plus, they don’t have to pay anything for water and the property tax is just $5. [£3.90].
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @heywandererIt clearly left many speechless as, at the time of writing, it quickly went viral and racked up two million views in just three days.

At the same time, a user shared: “Well, you have to buy the land and buy the solar panels first to get to zero payments.”
