In a clip on her account, she answered questions about her houseboat.

First, on the topic of cost, she said that her monthly expenses are “much cheaper than when she rented an apartment.”

She told how she pays £195 in mooring fees, but you can avoid them if you move around, and the boat is equipped with solar panels, meaning Daisy and her partner can get free electricity.

They also don’t have to pay water or council tax and spend around £9 a month on petrol.

To heat the boat, Daisy installed a coal-fired wood burner, which costs her around £6 a week.

Daisy admitted it was expensive to buy the boat for £42,000, but it was a lot cheaper than buying a house.

She added: “Besides the cost of buying a house, I honestly wanted a different lifestyle and found a fun boat.

“My boyfriend and I spent our savings and I also got a loan that I pay off every month.”

On board, they have a cassette toilet, which they empty on land, and a sink and shower that are pumped into the canal, and they try to use only environmentally friendly products.

Luckily they have Wi-Fi, an unlimited SIM card and an antenna on the roof to keep them connected.

I was 40, single and burnt out on my party lifestyle – I quit my six-figure job and moved into a van – I’m poorer but happier now

For work, Daisy said she has a “normal job” with a daily commute, so she continued to earn as before.

In your free time, you can enjoy the sun terrace on your boat.

Daisy said her favorite thing about living on a boat is being able to move around whenever she wants.

“I just want to be a pirate,” she joked.

Where and how to buy a houseboat

Living on a houseboat can be a cheaper alternative to living in a house, however, it comes with challenges, such as having to empty the toilets and do a lot of manual maintenance.

Houseboats are exempt from stamp duty and if you have a residential mooring you will pay the lowest prohibited council tax, which is usually included in the mooring costs.

Many people buy houseboats with cash instead of getting a mortgage as they cannot be registered with the land registry office.

You can get a specialist “marine mortgage”, but it needs a deposit of at least 25% and comes with higher interest rates and a shorter repayment term.

You can find houseboats for sale on sites like Zoopla or brokerage sites like Apollo Duck or Whilton Marina.

“Brick life is overrated”.

Daisy’s video, which was posted under the username @daisyontheboatIt probably left a lot of people impressed as it racked up over 1.2 million views on the video-sharing platform.

TikTok users rushed to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.

One person said: “I would love to live on a boat.”

A second person said: “OMG daisy! It looks so Cool.”

A third person added: “This is my dream instead of saving to buy a house.

“I’m going to rent until my kids are older, then it’s boat life for me and the dog.”

A fourth chimed in: “Having a fireplace would be really nice!”
