MOTHER-IN-LAW? More like an outlaw mother-in-law.
A wronged woman is taking her mother-in-law to court for defamation after discovering the rumors she spread about her baby.
Editor Legitimate_Ant_1293 shared the family drama in a viral post.
The new mother explained that after giving birth to her first child, her relationship with her in-laws became increasingly strained.
“[It] It wasn’t that bad at first. She wasn’t a super nice person, but my husband said she was always like that,” she said.
“She was always neutral when it came to me, not happy, not sad, not angry.”
Things changed quickly after she became pregnant, which coincided with accepting a new job, forcing her and her husband to move a few states away.
“It wasn’t planned, we weren’t trying to get pregnant and my work sent me to live in Washington so we moved there and then I found out I was pregnant,” she said.
“My husband and I were elated, and with my new job and the savings I had been accumulating, we decided to keep the baby.
“We told his family after the second trimester, as I have a heart condition and some other chronic illnesses that made the first trimester difficult for me.
“It was emotionally and physically exhausting, and I was constantly afraid of losing the baby. But we did it and my doctors felt more confident, so we told our families over FaceTime.”
Although the husband’s family was very happy for them, the mother-in-law was the only exception.
“She said, ‘If you knew you were going to have a baby, why did you move so far away?’ She accused me of getting closer to my family to isolate my husband’s family,” she said.
“My husband told her that we didn’t know about the pregnancy when we moved; it just happened at the same time. This dampened the FaceTime atmosphere a bit and we finished early.
“My husband and I were shocked by MIL’s behavior, but we brushed it off. Again, she never did anything drastic to make me think she hated me or anything.”
Over the next few weeks, however, things quickly got worse.
Legitimate lawyers commented on links and sent messages to her. People asked for our address to call CPS.

The Redditor received email after email from her mother-in-law about houses in their old state, trying to persuade them to move back.
Even after a stern conversation with her husband, her father-in-law continued to send her husband lists of houses.
“MIL then started sending houses/apartments just for my husband. One bed, one bathroom. Telling him he could get one of those and take ‘her baby’ to them while I work,” she said.
“What the hell is this. Husband shut it down super quick. Saying his life was here now and he wasn’t coming back.”
Doctor appointments soon represented another stressor in their lives, as the couple discovered that their baby would likely inherit their heart condition.
“During this time, MIL started sending baby things to our house. All male, even though we told her we weren’t going to do a gender reveal or anything,” she said.
Even worse, her mother-in-law took to social media to claim that “her baby” was “in danger” due to her poor health and accused her of intentionally trying to ruin the baby’s life.
After a traumatic induced labor, the Redditor was shocked when her mother-in-law showed up at their house.
Her father-in-law tried to get into the hospital where she gave birth at 3am, making calls to her husband, which were ignored because they were both busy while she was in labor.
“She called my husband again, and when he answered, she started yelling at him, saying she missed the birth of ‘her baby’ and that she would never forgive me for that,” she said.
“She didn’t spoil it for me that she was in the hospital. Her husband was exhausted and just said he would call back later.”
“Her husband went down to get a coffee and saw her. She demanded to see the baby, and when he said no, she freaked out again, claiming I was breaking up the family.
‘She said I got pregnant on purpose when we moved, so I trapped us in Washington. And I basically unloaded all of her thoughts and opinions on me throughout our entire relationship.
The couple continued to ignore their intrusive father-in-law and rested in the hospital with their daughter for two weeks.
“At that time, MIL posted on Facebook as if it was her job. She found pictures of babies of different ethnicities and posted them, not outright saying that I cheated on my husband, but letting other people think that,” she said.
Cluelessly, the couple were shocked to discover after leaving the hospital that one of their social media posts asking for advice on how to claim guardianship of a grandchild if abuse was involved had gone viral.
“Like, legitimate lawyers commented on links and messaged her. People asked for our address to call CPS. After searching her profile page, they found my husband and I,” she said.
“They found his work, my work, my family. Yelp reviews for my family’s business have plummeted.
“And the police ended up coming to our house. I was home from the hospital four days ago. I only had four days with my baby.”
Fortunately, his cousin is a lawyer’s advisor and has promised to help the two file a defamation case against his father-in-law.
Viewers were shocked by her story and shared their condolences.
“I’m so sorry for you! I will keep you in my prayers. This will pass, but you will always remember,” said one commenter.
“MIL has ruined the possibility of any relationship in the future and that is entirely due to her actions. Good luck! Remember that there are good people in this world too.”
“That’s BONKERS. Even if you want to move closer to your family, you are allowed to do so,” said another.
“I’m so sorry you had to go through this. Happiness from now on. I hope this horrible person is out of your life soon.”
“Wow this is another level of crazy,” said a third.
