A homeowner who wanted to keep spies at bay ended up transforming her entire outdoor space.

Your DIY planter box has not only given you privacy but also a stylish upgrade.

In a viral video, Katelyn (@katelynwine) wasn’t loving like her neighbors had a “complete view” of his courtyard.

This led her and her partner to come up with a plan.

A tall planter seemed like the perfect solution to create a feeling of seclusion.

All it needed was a decorative touch – or two.

A little black paint gave the plain-looking planter a whole new look.

Incorporating faux plants also added more height.

Transforming your own planter helps keep prying eyes at bay while also looking so pretty you won’t want to look away from it.

The best part is that it does not require approval from any homeowner association.

Many of her fans also identified with her desire for privacy.

“That’s one thing that’s important to me when I buy – privacy in my backyard. People don’t realize how crucial this is for some of us/introverts,” said one follower.

I made my own solar fountain which is great for a garden or patio – it took less than an hour and was super cheap

“For those who say the neighbors don’t watch you, well, mine does! I caught it several times, even my renters did too! I have to catch her on video too,” said another viewer.

Still others offered their own suggestions for styling an outdoor space.

“Home Depot has hanging curtains/privacy shades – for $22 we got two for this exact reason and I love them,” said one observer.

“The planter box is a good idea, having a real tree would be much more suitable if you want 100% privacy. The work you did looks good,” said another observer.

To start your own budget-friendly DIY privacy project, Home Depot sells a Brooklin stained wood planter for $29.97.

The weather-resistant, assembly-free purchase is described as ideal for outdoor spaces, including decks, patios and porches.

How to make your backyard a little paradise

Houna Bech is an interior designer and founder of the style blog With Houna.

She revealed to The US Sun five tips for transforming a drab outdoor space into a “little paradise rich in senses.”

  1. Embrace nature

“Use your landscaping, trees, flowers and organic environment as your muse,” she said.

2. Bring it inside out

“Repeat color palettes, textures and materials so the transition between indoor and outdoor is seamless,” she said.

3. Create zones for specific purposes

“I could design a luxurious cabin with lounge chairs and plush vanities for outdoor makeup sessions with my friends,” she said.

4. Prioritize comfort

“I’m talking cloud-like sectionals, overstuffed sofas, and large, weather-resistant ottomans that you can really wrap yourself up in,” she said.

5. Be creative

“Finally, transform your entire outdoor area into an art installation,” said Bech.

The planter, which can be customized with spray paint, has two drainage holes.

The retail giant also sells a Naturae Decor artificial violin leaf indoor and outdoor plant for $44.99.

These realistic-looking plants are described as giving off “positive” vibes wherever you place them.

The colorful, modern plants come in three sizes to best fit your space.

Choose from 35 inches, 47 inches or 59 inches tall.

Plants can also be placed in a variety of pots to match your decor.
