A WOMAN has shown off the incredible transformation of her drab garden being transformed into a luxury resort – and she did it all herself.
Jade Sprang admits she is ‘obsessed with DIY’ so didn’t seek help when it came to revamping her garden.
The 30-year-old says she taught herself how to do everything – because she doesn’t “rely too much” on tradespeople to do as good a job as she does.
His latest home transformation involved the backyard of his family home in Northern Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, which took around 15 months.
It was a basic garden with a forest of trees but now has a renovated swimming pool, artificial grass and a pergola.
The mother-of-two saved thousands of pounds by doing the work herself and with the help of her husband Joel, 31, daughter Lacey, 11, and son Nixon, six.
She estimates that if she had hired tradesmen to do it for her, the labor alone would have cost around £1,500 (AUS$3,000), but thanks to her DIY she has kept costs to a minimum.
Sharing the transformation on social media, people were amazed by the renovation.
Jade, an entrepreneur, said: “I’m really proud of this, I love that my husband and I put in all this effort and how it all turned out.
“I get really excited about creating something and I feel really proud of myself and my husband when we complete a piece of work.”
Jade bought her house in the Gold Coast suburbs for $1.3 million and has been renovating it ever since.
She said: “There was never a day when I decided to start doing this. I was painting walls and the projects got bigger and bigger.
“DIY has never been a job.
“I’ve always been practical – I’ve never been ‘book smart’ – and I’m not the one to sit still.
“I don’t like sleeping in until noon on the weekends. I’d rather jump in and start a new project.”
I guess I’m the ‘Jade of all trades’.

Jade says she has never let being a woman involved in a “male-dominated industry” stop her.
“I didn’t think there was a lot of pushback growing up, but as TikTok has grown, I’ve gotten some,” she said.

“The negative comments come mainly from men – you can get a lot of punishment.
“You need a strong backbone to get involved in this industry, but I really like the negativity as it gives my videos views that motivate me.”
She said her passion for DIY is because she “stupidly believes she can do everything” herself.
Jade said: “I think I’m the ‘Jade of all trades’.
“I don’t trust traditions too much. I hired two and they both hindered me with their punctuality and ability to complete work with professional results.”
Jade says it’s “dopamine” that drives her to post videos on her personal DIY TikTok.
“My personal page came about after we posted some videos on the business page, and they went viral — it gave me a dopamine hit,” she said.
“Generally, the support and reaction on my page is fantastic.
“I get a lot of direct messages asking for advice on DIY and how to style something or to help around the house.
“It’s a fantastic community.”
Although winter is coming in Australia, Jade was happy to offer some advice for anyone venturing into DIY this summer.
“The biggest DIY tip I would give is to make sure you have a budget and a plan before you even start,” she said.
“Everyone is struggling right now with inflation and the cost of living.
“Make sure you have any spare materials before buying something new from a store.”
Jade said the next big project she wants to work on is an outdoor kitchen.
“I would also love to have a teppanyaki bar,” she said.
She also has her own business, Imagine Vinyl, which has grown since her DIY TikTok page grew.
The company sells custom prints and crafts to customers around the world, including the UK and North America.
