Commenting on a Reddit publishuser Cowprint43 shared her trick for dealing with hives.

“I’m not a doctor, but I am a person who suffers from terrible food allergies that present themselves on the skin,” she explained.

“It’s terribly itchy and I scratch so hard that I tear my skin, even in my sleep.”

The poster suggested that his hack could be useful for anyone prone to insect bites during the summer months.

She described her homemade recipe as the “only remedy” that worked to soothe her skin.

For the first step, she recommended mixing equal parts peppermint oil and lavender oil.

She then added a pinch of sea salt and mixed until well blended.

The Reddit user revealed that she applies the homemade solution to wet skin after showering.

“The salt makes a gentle exfoliation that I put on my skin and just rinse my skin dry after showering,” she explained.

She credited the DIY concoction with instantly relieving her itchy skin.

My hayfever symptoms turned out to be an allergy to everyday items such as crisp packets, make-up and drink cans.

“The salt will dry to a whitish color on my skin, but it feels ice-cold and gives me hours of itch-free skin,” she said.

Specialist doctors from Institute of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery discussed the benefits of salt for calming the skin.

They described the ingredient as having a “plethora of benefits for the epidermis.”

These include gentle exfoliation, acne treatment, improved circulation, rejuvenation, and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Stop using tanning beds.
  • Do not use sunscreen to contour your face.

According to Health LineLavender oil contains antifungal properties that make it ideal for soothing irritated skin.

The agency also credited the ingredient with helping alleviate discomfort caused by insect bites.

They recommended applying the ingredient to damp or wet skin for quick results.
