Sarah Dempsey is a cleaning specialist at My job quotea UK-based company that connects homeowners with tradespeople.

Speaking to The US Sun, she shared her unmissable bathroom cleaning tips.

BRILLIANT SOLUTION

Dempsey said toothpaste can easily get “stuck” on parts of the sink when brushing your teeth.

Fortunately, the nasty residue can be used to clean the basin.

“The next time you notice toothpaste marks around the sink, take a damp sponge or cloth and give the sink a quick scrub,” she said.

“The toothpaste residue will act as a gentle bathroom cleaner and leave your sink looking squeaky clean and smelling minty fresh.”

EFERVANT CORRECTION

Many homeowners may not be aware of Coca-Cola’s “effective” cleaning properties.

Dempsey revealed that the fizzy liquid can be used as an alternative to other bathroom cleaning products.

“Take a bottle and pour it over the edge of the toilet,” she said.

“Let it sit for about an hour and then scrub it well with the toilet brush.

“This will effectively remove any stubborn stains from the toilet bowl and leave it feeling fresh and clean.”

HOT HACK

Dempsey revealed that there are two simple ways to clean tile grout.

She said the heat from steam cleaning machines can “easily” remove dirt and grime for a fresh look.

“Start by filling the steam cleaner with water and add a small brush to it,” she said.

“Then, run the steamer along the grout lines of the tiles. Use gentle rubbing motions as you go.

“You should see the spots start to disappear as you go. You may need to repeat the process if necessary.

Reserve bleach for heavily stained grout areas.

Alternatively, bleach can be used to remove stubborn stains on grout.

Dempsey said the chemical should not be used for regular cleaning because it can cause some discoloration in the grout.

“Reserve bleach for heavily stained grout areas,” she said.

“When cleaning with bleach, you need to keep the environment well ventilated.

“Just put some bleach in a small container and dip an old toothbrush in it. Scrub the tile grout with the bleached toothbrush.

“Continue dipping your toothbrush in the bleach every so often to make sure you’re getting good coverage.

“You can place an old towel or cloth underneath, as the bleach can stain your carpets or other surfaces.

“Also, you will need to wear gloves and old clothes.”
