A self-confessed “bad mum” has revealed how she is struggling amid the UK housing crisis – despite earning tens of thousands on social media.

Whitney Ainscough currently lives in a two-bedroom council house with her boyfriend, three children and two dogs.

But the 30-year-old is desperately looking for somewhere new as the family have “no room to breathe” in their current home.

She saw a four-bedroom house for private rent earlier in the week, which she described as “literally perfect”.

However, the owner offered the property to someone else.

This is something Whitney predicted would happen, as she believes landlords would prefer to have doctors or mortgage consultants, rather than social media stars, as tenants.

“They decided to give it to someone else,” she somberly revealed on TikTok.

“Honestly, I’m devastated… But it clearly wasn’t meant to be like this.”

Whitney openly shared that there is “no space at all” in her two-bedroom home, where she raises three children — Cora, 11, son Addison, six, and Adley, two — and two Miniature Dachshund puppies.

“There’s no room to breathe, there’s no room to sleep,” she said.

“We are desperate for a house.”

However, cruel trolls took to the comments on her video to ask Whitney, from Rotherham, South Yorks: “Why don’t you just buy a house?”

I do nothing all day and get called a ‘benefits bitch’ but now I earn more than DOUBLE Rishi Sunak – they should make me PM

“At least you have a house”, said another.

As a social media star, Whitney has an impressive 361,000 combined followers on TikTok alone.

The platform came about after she started sharing her lifestyle claiming benefits in 2021.

When going live on TikTok, the mother of three gets hundreds of likes just by dancing in her kitchen in a bathrobe.

How can I get a council house?

To apply for a council home, you need to complete and submit an application to the local authority.

To find your local authority, simply use the Government’s advice finder tool on their website.

Once you have access to your local council website, it should offer guidance on how to complete your application.

After signing up, you will likely have to join a waiting list.

Please note that even if you are placed on a waiting list, this does not guarantee you a council house offer.

Your council should also advise you on how to stay in your current home and resolve any problems you may have, such as problems with a private landlord or mortgage.

Are you eligible for apply for social housing if you are a British citizen living in the UK, as long as you have not lived abroad recently.

Each council has its own local rules about who qualifies to be on the housing register for their area, but these are based on a “points” or “band” system.

For example, you’re likely to receive a housing offer first if:

  • are homeless
  • live in cramped conditions
  • have a medical condition made worse by your current home
  • are trying to escape domestic violence

Once you’re at the top of the council’s waiting list, they will contact you when a property becomes available.

Some councils allow people to apply at 18, while others allow you to apply even earlier, at 16.

EU workers and their families and refugees may also be eligible.

A council house is achieved through a points system, so depending on your housing needs you may be considered low priority.

The council will contact you about any available properties as soon as you are high enough on the waiting list.

There is no limit to how long you can expect to be on the waiting list.

And when the likes and comments reach more than 1,000, she knows she’s making money.

That’s because – thanks to TikTok’s creator fund and associated advertising deals – every view means money.

Whitney previously told Fabulous that she is on track to earn more than £200,000 by 2024 – something he proudly says is “more than double what the Prime Minister earns”.

“All I do is scroll through TikTok and social media for a few hours a day – it’s a total joke,” she added.

I used to use Universal Credit and survive on £1,200 a month. Now I can earn this in just one day while people watch me on social media

“I used to use Universal Credit and survive on £1,200 a month.

“Now I can earn this in just one day while people watch me on social media.

“I even make hundreds of posts about what I eat for dinner.

“It’s hilarious that the Prime Minister has to work more than 100 hours a week.

“I’m ready to make double that on social media, crushing trolls and dancing in my kitchen.”
