A WOMAN who loves sunbathing naked in her garden was forced to use privacy curtains to stop her “creepy” neighbor from peeping in.

The situation was explained in the Neighbors from Hell thread on Reddit when a man said his wife “never had a problem” tanning naked until recently.

“Suddenly one day my neighbor looked over the fence and started a conversation,” he he wrote.

“We all ignored it because I thought he accidentally peeked in and didn’t know how to react.”

However, the wife told her husband that he greeted her “regularly, starting to start a conversation while she was sunbathing.”

“Can’t that be a legal right?

“I understand he’s only greeting briefly, but he’s still clearly looking, and I mean, come on, why would he think it’s okay to do that shit?”

Additionally, they believe he is “standing on tiptoe or using something so he can peer over the fence” that he “wouldn’t otherwise be able to see.”

Now they had to take measures to stop spying.

“I ordered privacy curtains that will be here in a few weeks, but until then my wife has been trying to ignore it,” he continued.

“Even though we’re getting sunglasses, I’m worried that now he’ll try to find a way.”

People were divided over who was to blame for the situation, with some suggesting the woman should cover up – despite being in her own garden.

I was so angry after my neighbor painted my fence that I covered it with graffiti

“Remember that anywhere outside, unless you are in a remote area, there is a chance someone will see you,” one wrote.

“I’d rather have tan lines than take that risk or you could get a spray tan.”

“I HATE living near you,” said another.

“If you’re so committed to the two of you tanning naked, build some kind of gazebo that has a wall on his property but still has sunlight.

“But I can guarantee that your neighbors on the other side despise this habit as well.”

“Creep but you are also naked in your backyard, someone is taking a look,” commented a third.

Gardening mistakes that can result in a fine

The gardening experts at Toolstation have revealed the gardening laws you need to be aware of so you don’t break.

Although some of these laws can result in a fine of up to £20,000 in extreme cases, a friendly chat with your neighbors can usually solve any problems.

Tree removal and pruning: If you have a tree in your yard that you want to get rid of, it’s best to think twice and do your research.

Gardening experts reveal: “If one neighbor wants to remove or heavily prune a tree that the other neighbor values, disputes can arise over the impact on views, shade or privacy. “

Although it may cause a fight, if it is within the boundaries of your property, the final choice is yours unless you have a Tree Protection Order.

“But some trees may be protected by a Tree Protection Order, which makes it a criminal offense to uproot, fell or destroy them, experts warn.

The maximum fine for breaking this law is £20,000, so double check if you have a TPO.

You can find out by contacting your local council for a map showing this information. Alternatively, you can ask to speak to your local tree officer.

Property Boundaries and Fences: One of the main causes of disagreements between neighbors is arguments over property boundaries and fences.

To avoid this situation, landscaping professionals recommend checking your property’s deed to determine the correct boundaries.

“Most of the time, it’s easy to determine who owns the fence because the fence posts are usually on the homeowners’ side,” they add.

“Additionally, the height of fences or hedges can cause disputes between neighbors if one party feels the height has exceeded the two meter guideline.

“Hedges and fences must be no more than two meters high, and the council may ask you to take them down if a neighbor complains about the height.

“Fortunately, standard fence sizes are less than two meters high, so you shouldn’t have any problems.”

Garden Structures and Additions: A pergola is the perfect addition to a garden if you want a place to relax in the shade.

But if it obstructs your neighbor’s view or violates local building regulations, it could cause a dispute, just like sheds and other garden structures.

“If you’re not sure, talk to your neighbors to let them know what you’re planning and, if there are any problems, contact the council who will be able to give you further guidance,” advise gardening experts.

Hanging branches and plants: “When branches, vines or roots from a neighbor’s tree or plant extend into the neighboring property, this can lead to disagreements about possible damage to structures, blocked views or maintenance burden”, reveal the professionals.

However, it is important to note that you can only trim overhanging branches to the boundary of your property, otherwise it could be seen as trespassing.

You can climb the tree to carry out the work if necessary, but only on your property and make sure you stay on your side of the fence if you are not allowed into your neighbour’s garden.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a camera somewhere.”

“You have neighbors,” said another person.

“Neighbors can see your yard. This is how neighborhoods work.

“If you don’t like your wife sunbathing naked, tell her so!”

The man then replied: “I suggested this to her, but she doesn’t want to stop because of a bad neighbor.

“She’s trying to change her programming to avoid him.”

But others were on the husband’s side, with one writing: “This is so disgusting…your wife should probably stop tanning naked until this is resolved because this is scary and disgusting.”

“I’m on your side,” insisted another.

“If the only way he can see his wife is by going up to look over a fence and he keeps doing that, then he’s wrong.”
