A GROOM has been criticized for the outfit he wore to his own wedding, with people calling it “disgusting” and “depressing”.

Some even suggested that his fiancée must have been begging him to marry her for a decade.

Posting a photo of her wedding day on social media, the bride said: “Today was my day!

“We did it, 13 years together and I married my forever partner.”

In the photo, the bride is wearing a long, flowing white lace dress.

However, her husband appears to be attending an entirely different event and is wearing a red Nike top, a pair of gym shorts, and some sneakers.

Sharing the post on Reddit, one unimpressed user said: “13 years together and he can’t even wear nice jeans.

“Ugh, I try so hard not to judge, but after 13 years together you’d think the groom could try a little harder than dressing like a high school student on the way to the gym.”

The post was flooded with responses from users, many of whom were also unimpressed with the groom’s attire.

One person said: “That’s giving ‘I begged him to propose to me for literally a decade and he only finally agreed when I gave him an ultimatum.’

Responding to this, someone else said: “Literally, I would be so hurt if my partner made it so obvious that they weren’t trying at all on their wedding day.”

A third person said: “It looks like he just walked in off the street.

I’m 5’7″ and a size 16 and I bought beautiful, great value dresses for wedding guests at a store I haven’t been to in 15 years

“Oh hey – need a groom? Sign me up.

“At least make minimal effort. Disgusting.”

A fourth said: “What he’s wearing wouldn’t even be acceptable on a date.

“I hate that. I hate all of this.

Dos and Don’ts of Wedding Dress Codes

By Josie Griffiths, Fabulous deputy editor and bride-to-be.

I will never forget the wedding I went to in October 2022, where a guest wore a white dress.

It was ill-fitting, knee-length, and looked nothing like a real wedding dress, but that didn’t stop everyone from judging her.

The rules about wedding guest attire — which are annoyingly stricter for women than men — are meant to be about “not outshining the bride,” which is actually pretty hard to do on someone else’s wedding day.

But if you get it wrong as a guest, you’ll end up looking a little silly and in front of a bunch of people who don’t know you personally.

It’s just not the occasion for your new white dress, no matter how much online stores love to throw it in the ‘wedding guest’ section.

I would avoid anything too tight/short and ditch the super formal dresses unless the dress code requires them – you don’t want to wear a long sequin dress to a smart casual event.

Personally I don’t like black dresses either, it’s not a funeral.

Otherwise you will be quite safe. Technically, wearing red means you’re in love with your fiancé, but that’s the kind of rule most people would scoff at these days.

I always check the bridesmaids’ color, just to be safe, after the Spanish wedding, where I saw them walk down the aisle in exactly the same dress I had in my Asos shopping basket weeks before.

When in doubt, it’s safest to just check with the bride… but if you’re already doubting your dress, this might be the answer you need.

“The fact that her adult husband wears this outfit is depressing.”

A fifth added: “I wouldn’t have married him.

“If my husband had shown up dressed like that, I would have turned the car around, gone home and changed the locks.”
