DON’T bite the hand that feeds you – or in this case, don’t bite the hand that finances your honeymoon.

A shocked woman has spoken out about her best friend’s proposal after she was chosen to be her bridesmaid.

She explained that she offered to finance the couple’s honeymoon when they faced financial difficulties.

Editor Plastic-Slide-775 shared the wedding drama in a post.

She remembered how she had been best friends with “Lisa” since they were children and was delighted when Lisa asked her to be a bridesmaid at her ceremony.

“Recently, Lisa mentioned that she and her fiancé are struggling to afford their dream honeymoon in Bora Bora,” she said.

“They have been saving, but unexpected expenses have arisen.”

The Redditor offered to take on the role of best friend and bridesmaid.

“Knowing how much this trip means to them, I wanted to help,” she said.

“I offered to contribute a significant amount of money to their honeymoon as a wedding gift because I am earning so well.”

She was shocked, however, when she saw the total cost of the travel plans.

“When Lisa and her fiancé finalized their plans, they chose the most luxurious resort in Bora Bora, with all the bells and whistles,” she said.

“The cost was astronomical, far beyond what I had initially anticipated.

“When Lisa sent me the breakdown of the costs and my share, I was shocked.

“It was more than double what I had budgeted to give them.”

She explained her situation to Lisa and offered the original amount she intended to contribute.

Some think I’m being reasonable, while others believe I must find a way to get money to make Lisa’s dream come true.

“Lisa was upset and said I was ruining her dream honeymoon. She argued that as her best friend and bridesmaid, I should be willing to make sacrifices for her big day,” she said.

The disagreement caused a “fall out” between the two after Lisa asked someone else to serve as bridesmaid, leaving her unsure of what to do.

“Our mutual friends are divided. Some think I’m being reasonable, while others believe I must find a way to get money to make Lisa’s dream come true,” she said.

Many, however, think she should leave while she has the chance.

“Not the idiot. Let the trash go,” said one commenter.

“This is not a friend; he’s a leech,” agreed another.

Some felt his original offer was more than enough.

“Go ahead and don’t contribute a dime. You VERY GENEROUSLY offered a huge amount to Lisa, and she deliberately planned a very extravagant trip with the intention of guilting you into paying more,” one commenter wrote.

“Save all her messages, remove yourself as MOH, don’t give her any money, then prepare to drop evidence of the truth WHEN she tries to play the victim to her friends about how you ruined her honeymoon for jealousy.”

Others were shocked by their former friend’s audacity.

“I just can’t understand how people like this have no shame,” said one critic.

“Waiting for your friends to ruin your financial security to pay for YOUR honeymoon.

“If someone can’t pay, then they shouldn’t go. You should save until it is financially viable, like any other responsible adult.”
