Emily shared her parenting issues on an advice forum publish.

She had revealed the long-awaited name at her baby shower, but was shocked when she was greeted with hesitation.

“I decided to announce my son’s name at his baby shower and I’m getting a lot of negative comments,” she said.

“It’s not even the most unique name. I know grown men with that name and I don’t think it’s crazy. I think it’s a beautiful name.”

Emily revealed that she wants to name her son Valentine.

“Pronounced as Valentine’s Day,” she said.

“I’m not sure how to end the conversation, I feel like people are on a mission to convince me to name it something else.”

The parents agreed that the name was not widely known.

“There are times when I agree with the masses that it is a terrible baby name and should be changed,” said one commenter.

“But this isn’t one of those cases. It’s a great name, used appropriately; there’s nothing wrong with it!”

I named my baby after a wild dog – people openly torment me and the nurses at the hospital laughed, it really suits her

They advised the mother to keep her head up.

“Continue with your choice and tell others that you are not interested in hearing their opinion,” they said.

“I LOVE the name Valentine. I considered it as a middle name, but it wouldn’t match our last name,” said another.

“I also always seem to like polarizing names, so there’s that.

I feel like people are on a mission to convince me to call him any other name.

They added that while they loved the name, others might feel differently.

“It’s bold and different; you’ll probably always get comments about your uniqueness, so you need to be comfortable with it,” they said.

One viewer added that the etymology of the name brings good vibes.

“I looked up the meaning. [It] has a good meaning: Valentine is a gender-neutral name of Latin origin, meaning ‘strong’ or ‘healthy,'” they said.

“It is derived from the Latin word valens, meaning ‘strong and healthy’, and is related to the Latin names Valentinus and Valentinian.

“Valentine has biblical roots with more than 50 saints and a pope with the same name.”
