SMILING at the camera, a baby snuggled up to him, proud great-grandfather Chris Carchrie can’t hide his joy.
Because he’s finally a great-grandfather after SIX grandchildren – but he’s only 43 years old.
The boy, named Jack*, was born in April 2023 and is the first great-grandchild for Chris and his wife Jane.
Although technically he is a stepson, he doesn’t feel that way since Chris has been with Jane for 20 years and has been married for 17 years.

Jane is 64 and the pair met in 2003 after he accompanied a friend to pick up Jane’s youngest daughter Sarah, now 41, when he was 24 and they immediately hit it off.
He was the same age as her other daughter, Paula, now 43, but he didn’t care.
Six months later they were a couple – and now, after Paula’s daughter had a son, he is a great-grandfather at just 43.
He lives in the same four-bedroom house in Bishopton, Scotland, with Jane and her daughter Sarah Bayley, 41. Meanwhile, Sarah’s man, chef Mikey McSorley, 25, visits regularly. Sarah’s three children — one of whom spends most of the year at university — also live in the multigenerational home.
According to Jane, Chris honed his skills to help raise his grandchildren.
“When I met Chris, I only had one grandson,” said Jane, who has six children. “Chris was there to welcome the other five.
“He loves taking his grandchildren to dance and acting classes. He picks them up at the theater and goes out at night and cooks and cleans for us.
“This is how he proved his grandfathering skills. It’s amazing to see him with them. All the grandchildren call him daddy.
“When the great-grandson appeared I knew he would shine.”
AGE LOVE
Called May-December due to the age gap, the love for the age gap has dominated headlines for years.
Perhaps one of the most famous examples is Gary and Almeda.
The couple from Nashville, Tennessee, looked at each other at Almeda’s son’s funeral. Almeda, then 71, went on a date with Gary, then 17, and two weeks later they married in a wedding that cost £137.

Meanwhile, Iris Jones and Mohamed made headlines when they revealed on This Morning that they had a very raunchy first night.
In an interview with Fabulous Iris, then 82, said that Mohamed, then 38, ‘didn’t care about her dentures’, but it wasn’t for things to end publicly and her calling him a toerag.
“It sounds crazy, but I’m so proud to be a great-great-grandfather at 43 and live in a ‘cougar house,’” he said.
“It’s a time when a lot of men are having their first child, but I love it. It doesn’t matter that I’m in my early 40s. I’m prepared to accept being a great-grandfather.
“Marrying Jane proved that age is just a number. She is so beautiful that she looks 40 years old like me.”
He and Jane see the boy as regularly as possible and say there should be no “hidden taboos” about love across age differences.
And although he doesn’t have any biological children, Chris is happy to be a great-great-grandfather.

“I married Jane, who is 20 years older than me, when I was 26. Jane loves explaining how marrying her makes me one of the youngest great-grandparents in the world – even if it’s an in-between role.”
According to his wife, a retired civil servant, Jane, her age-gap husband was born to be a “very young grandfather and great-grandfather”.
“He stood out and shines in his role,” she said. “People might say he’s too young to be a great-grandfather at 43. I say he was born for this. He changed my life and showed me that you can find love and happiness no matter what age or age difference is involved.”

But she said she knew some people would find it “shocking.”
“When you’re an older woman and you marry a much younger man, you quickly learn that people are constantly stunned and sometimes mean,” she said. They accuse me of “stealing their men.”
“But I don’t care, in fact I tell people I was the original cougar – and my daughters were nothing but supportive.
“I noticed that some people were jealous. Others were afraid of breaking taboos like me.”

“It was Sarah who convinced me I should go out with him. She told me I would never forgive myself if I didn’t. She was right.”
In fact, Sarah followed her mother’s example and met Mikey on Tinder in 2021. He is 16 years younger than her and just five years older than her eldest daughter.
“We’re a mother-daughter cougar duo,” Jane said, referring to the term for a woman who dates or marries a younger man. “We fell in love with toyboys, it’s a family affair and I couldn’t be prouder or happier.”
Sarah, a former theme park entertainer and mother of three, added: “Women tell me we are stealing all the boys and dating our own age. But I have no regrets and when you find love, you hold on to it.
“My mother gave me the courage to find happiness with the right man for me, no matter how old or young he is.
“Mom and I love telling people we are a family of cougars. We are proof that love has no age limit. We are cougars that roar with pride.
Mikey added: “Sarah is amazing. I don’t see an older woman, I see a fit, loving and caring girlfriend. It’s wonderful to visit the house and see how Jane and Chris made their marriage work. We are a big family. Chris and I think anyone who thinks this is ridiculous can get the hell out. We are two happy guys with amazing partners.”
