MAN shared the embarrassing story behind his nickname, which made him feel like “a walking dad joke.”

When it comes to finding the perfect name for their child, most parents spend hours coming up with a long list.

A Dad Made His Adult Son a ‘Walking Dad Joke’

But it looks like one dad decided to take a pretty creative – and unusual – approach to naming his third child by cracking the ultimate “dad joke”.

On Reddit, the now-adult son said: “My name isn’t that ridiculous – Alson.

“But the reasoning behind this is completely silly.

”I’m the youngest of three boys; Then, not long after I was born and had to think of a name, my extremely creative father said, ‘Hmmm! I all have children…’.

”Thank you for the life of ‘Allison’? Mistakes, Dad! I’m a living, breathing, walking dad joke…”

While other Redditors couldn’t help but laugh at the hilarious story behind his bizarre nickname, others shared their own embarrassing names.

One user said: “You are a dad joke…”

Another added: “I have a normal name (David) but it comes from a joke about a Harley David Son motorcycle.

”As in ‘I may not have a Harley, but at least I have a son David’.”

A third added: “A friend of mine recently entered a contest where one of the contestants’ names is Crystal Veth.

Controversial gender reveal shocks the Internet

”I will never stop finding this hilarious.”

Another person, however, shared: “My mom had two cats when she had me and joked that she was going to name me Kitty so she could go to the back door at the end of the day and just shout ‘Here Kitty, kitty, kitty’ to call everyone inside.”

It comes after a father recently realized why naming his daughter Penny will certainly set her up for “a life of ridicule”.

According to the horrified father, other adults have been using a horrible nickname for the poor child – Penny Pincher – all because her surname also starts with P.

Are unique baby names worth it?

The Fabulous deputy editor reveals the turmoil she faced with her own name growing up.

When I was a kid, all I wanted was one of those personalized keychains with my name on it.

But no joy, the closest I could find was Rosie, Joseph (not very good for a girl) and Joanne.

Josie is short for Josephine, which is a French name, and I managed to reach my 20s without ever meeting anyone who shared it.

When I try to introduce myself to people, I get all sorts of random things – like Tracey and Stacey – which can be really annoying.

Although I’ve come into contact with a few Josies over the past year – there seem to be a few of us around my age – it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends.

Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or poorly written.

And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just referring to myself as Josie.

I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname, as it’s not seen as very cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not as attached to Griffiths as I always said’ hi, it’s Josie’ when calling a friend.

I think it’s good to be unique and I will definitely try to replicate that when naming my own children.

It’s the rude names you have to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist, I’ll definitely avoid them.

“It’s seriously gotten to the point where I can’t unlisten to it. I am devastated thinking that I led my daughter into a life of ridicule.

“Am I exaggerating? Is being called a ‘penny earner’ something school kids would say, or is it just old grandmothers?”

While the term — which is used to describe a mean-spirited person — is typically considered a negative trait, other Reddit users assured the father that the nickname wouldn’t stick with his peers.

They insisted that while most adults know this term, “penny pincher” is not something younger children would learn and use on their own.
