A MAN has shared his regret over giving his daughter the nickname “hippie”, which has now become popular thanks to Stranger Things.
The father explained that at the time he and his partner were hippies and chose a very unusual name for their daughter – which was also a number.

The unusual nickname – Eleven – has grown in popularity thanks to the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, where one of the main characters, played by Millie Bobby Brown, shares the same nickname.
The father, who now regrets his choice, stated that the pair had already thought of the name before the program hit our screens.
“This was before Stranger Things came out. We thought it was mystical, beautiful, cool and unique.
“And we were annoying hippie hippies,” he joked.
After abandoning the hippie mentality and lifestyle, the father regretted his choice – and said he always hoped his daughter would change that as she got older.
The child, now in high school, still goes by the name Eleven, joking that no one forgets her name.
“Sometimes I feel bad and people always ask me what’s wrong with her name.
”And a lot of people are sometimes bad, so they ask me if her name comes from the show, or a lot of people assume she adopted it after the show.”
That’s not the case, even though his daughter loves Stranger Things, her father noted, adding that he hoped she would start using Elle.
Although many agree that Eleven is not a big name, some social media users considered the story wholesome.
One said: “I definitely thought of Stranger Things straight away (I love the show) but I also genuinely like the sound of it.
”It’s cute, it has no horrible spelling mistakes, it’s easy to shorten to Elle or Ellie, and most importantly – she likes it.”
Another added: “It sounds like you raised your daughter well and she has an optimistic and resilient personality.

When I try to introduce myself to people, I get all sorts of random things – like Tracey and Stacey – which can be really annoying.
Although I’ve come into contact with a few Josies over the past year – there seem to be a few of us around my age – it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends.
Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or poorly written.
And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just referring to myself as Josie.
I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname, as it’s not seen as very cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not as attached to Griffiths as I always said’ hi, it’s Josie’ when calling a friend.
I think it’s good to be unique and I will definitely try to replicate that when naming my own children.
It’s the rude names you have to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist, I’ll definitely avoid them.

“That’s so sweet, at the end of the day, if she loves her name, isn’t that what really matters?” someone else agreed.
The news comes after 20-year-old Millie secretly married Jon Bon Jovi’s 22-year-old model son earlier this year in May.
A source said: “Millie and Jake said their vows quietly in America last weekend.
“They are planning a bigger ceremony in the US later this year, but now they are legally married and have done all the paperwork.
“It was a very low-key, romantic affair with their immediate family as they said their vows.”
