Vinted is an online marketplace where people can buy and sell second-hand clothes, shoes and accessories.

Uploading clothes to the app is completely free, and Vinted doesn’t cut sellers’ profits and instead charges buyers a small fee for purchasing each item.

Mya Turner decided to relist all of her Vinted items after struggling to make sales.

Relisting just means deleting all your items and relisting them.

She said the listing works best if you take completely new photos and upload the items again about five minutes after deleting them.

When relisting her items, Mya made sure to use lots of keywords that users were likely to search for and changed the background of her photos to a transparent white.

She said that by making these small changes, she started selling quickly.

The Vinted genius added that the re-listed items were priced the same or slightly lower than when she originally listed them.

Mya has managed to sell 18 items in the last nine days, totaling £267.

EXCL- I won £400 on Vinted using my secret ‘mirror method’ – punters rushed to get my ‘fat’ clothes and it acted like free therapy for me

His best sales were two coats, one selling for £55 and the other for £85.

On TikTok, Mya said: “I definitely recommend relisting your entire wardrobe as it has worked really well for me.”

“Like I said, I made £267 in nine days, which is crazy if you ask me.”

Mya’s video, which was posted under the username @myturner1likely left many impressed as it racked up over 140,000 views on the video-sharing platform.

Do you need to pay taxes on items sold on Vinted?

QUICK tax facts from the Vinted team…

  • The only time an item may be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and makes a profit (sold for more than you paid for it). You can still use your £3,000 capital gains tax-free allowance to offset it.
  • Generally, only commercial sellers who trade for profit (buy goods with the aim of selling them for more than they paid for them) may have to pay tax. Business sellers trading for profit can use a £1,000 tax break, which has been in place since 2017.

TikTok users rushed to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.

One person said: “I relisted almost all of mine yesterday and have sold 8 things so far.”

A second person said: “I tend to re-list a few things every week.

“It definitely works.”

A third person said: “I always do this on payday!

“I relisted 50 items at the end of last month and sold 20 items in one weekend.”

A fourth added: “I do this once a month and it’s worth a lot!”

Online marketplaces like Vinted and Depop have millions of users across the UK, and the cost of living crisis is only adding to their popularity.

Financial pressures on British households have seen sales of second-hand goods rise by 15 per cent to £21 billion in 2022.
One in six people now say they buy used items, according to research commissioned by reviews website Trustpilot.

o, now is the perfect time to earn some extra money with companies like Vinted.

According to the popular platform, sellers do not need to pay taxes on the earnings they make on the site.

This, HMRC said, is because the sale of personal items through platforms like Vinted is not taxable in itself.

“If the money a member makes on Vinted over the course of a year is less than the amount they paid for the items they are selling, then there is no tax to pay,” explained a Vinted spokesperson.

“Generally, only commercial sellers who “trade” for profit may need to pay taxes.

”A £1,000 tax-free allowance has been in place since 2017 for people trading for profit.”
