WE ALL love traveling abroad and getting a tan, but every professional must have a cheat, and in summer it’s pesky mosquitoes.

As much as I love the sun coming out, one thing I despise are bugs – especially the ones that like to nibble on my skin.

In the UK we are lucky not to have any mosquito-borne diseases, but the same is not true of the countries we visit for our holidays. summer holidays.

Africa, America, Asia and even Southern Europe, such as Greece and Italy, may be at risk of becoming diseases such as yellow feverMalaria and West Nile Virus – something you don’t want to deal with.

And when we have hot days here in Britain, I’m covered in itchy bugs.

So I decided to try three of the most popular online mosquito repellents to see which one worked best.

Plague Bracelets

These handy bracelets come in a pack of ten for £12.99 or £1.29 per bracelet.

O Pest Multipack makes it perfect for the whole family, especially if you’re using carry-on luggage and are precious with your liquid limit.

They come in a variety of colors so your kids won’t argue about not having their favorite color.

They promise to keep you protected for up to 300 hours – perfect for a 12-day vacation and they’re waterproof too.

Now their smell is not very strong and use a mixture of natural vegetable oils to repel mosquitoes.

A blend of citronella, lemongrass, peppermint and eucalyptus oil keeps them at bay and I must say it works.

The bracelet’s smell isn’t very strong, which is great, as citronella isn’t the most pleasant smell.

Nature’s Defenses: Organic Solutions to Garden Pest Problems

While running near a local river, I often get bitten, but nothing comes close to it, including those horrible little flies.

My only concern is that it might be hard to keep them with your kids since we know how bad they are at messing with this kind of thing.

Boots repel maximum DEET and PMD aerosol

This aerosol is tiny so it’s perfect for popping in your bag for use on the go and costs a very reasonable £5.99.

You can use the spray on any area of directly exposed skin or spray it into the palms of your hands and rub it over your face, neck and ears.

How do essential oils prevent mosquito bites?

Experts at MosquitoSquad say there are two reasons why essential oils repel mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes have a strong sense of smell, and just as the smells of carbon dioxide, lactic acid, and body odor can attract them, certain overpowering herbs and floral scents will have them buzzing in the opposite direction. Not only do they dislike these smells, but they can also overload their senses and disorient them, so the effect is powerful.

Many natural scents that are attractive to humans repel mosquitoes, including lavender, peppermint, basil, and eucalyptus. You may find that you already choose these scents as perfume or cologne, in candles or sprays.

This is also the only product in the line that actually contains DEET in the formula.

DEET is proven to be the most effective ingredient for repelling insects that bite you, but it can be harsh on your skin.

When using the product I noticed that I could feel a layer of it everywhere and the smell was super strong, so there was no point in trying to put on a perfume to mask it.

I actually had a severe sneezing fit moments after applying it, thanks to the smell.

The product protects you for up to eight hours and does a good job.

I imagine this Boot spray it would be beneficial in countries where diseases can be transmitted by mosquito bites.

But it’s not something you need in the UK, so I’d give this one a try otherwise to avoid the downsides.

NatPat Mosquito Patches

I had never heard of a product like this until a friend complimented me on it.

O NatPat repellent stickers It costs £15 for 40 stickers and you apply them to the inside of your clothes – one on your upper body and one on your lower body.

They were easy to apply and had a strong peppermint scent that wasn’t as offensive as other products I tried.

Once applied, you can barely notice the smell or feel of them clinging to your clothes.

There is no DEET in the stains, but I still went about my day at the park without any bites.

I imagine they would be particularly good for children as they hate being sprayed with sunscreen or insect repellent and will soon forget about the stickers as they will be hidden.
