In a clip that has racked up almost 2,000 likes, they showed how they did all the work themselves.

Her main complaints with the old kitchen were the plain tile walls and the cabinet, which had thermofoil vinyl attached.

Their first job was to remove the vinyl, sand the doors, and spray paint them a beautiful duck egg blue color.

Then it was time to attack the walls and cover the white tiles.

For this they turned to Wickes panels, and a beaded MDF panel prepared costs £33.

The description says: “Primed beaded MDF panel offers a flexible and aesthetically pleasing alternative to conventional cladding materials.

“With its finely crafted beaded design, this MDF sheet not only offers functional utility but also enhances the visual appeal of the spaces where it is used.

“Easy to install and can be painted or finished to match your specific decor preferences, giving you the creative freedom to achieve the look you want.”

They ended up cutting their own wooden counter and putting it in place.

David Harrison-Colley, who manages the account, told Fabulous: “The background to the project was that we wanted to give it a bit of a ‘sparkle’ as the vinyl had started to peel off some of the cupboards and the freestanding oven we had. left by the previous owner was broken.

I’m an interior designer and your kitchen cabinets make your house look cheap

“We like to ‘thrift’ and recycle, so we decided to see what we could do to improve whilst we waited for planning approval to eventually extend the kitchen.

“As the tiles were cut around the wall cabinets, we decided to cover them with beadboard as it was quicker and cheaper than removing the tiles and replacing them.”

DIY fans showed off the finished kitchen, and although they only made a few adjustments, the impact was huge.

So much so that people quickly commented and said it looked like their “dream” kitchen.

One woman told how she was given a quote of £18,000 for a new kitchen, so she did it herself for £155 with some MDF and paint.

Jill shared her story on Channel 5’s Your Dream Kitchen For Less.

“My old kitchen was dark and dirty,” she said. “We had been doing this for 18 years and I was ready for a change.”

Jill was paid a series of exorbitant sums for the renovation, but she wasn’t willing to spend a lot of money.

So, she put on her helmet and took matters into her own hands… literally.

Her first stop was to visit a local timber merchant, who cut her some sheets of MDF for just £30.

She then cut into panels and glued the MDF to a flat panel cabinet to make them look like shaker doors.
