Well-meaning strangers warned a bride to run after her groom’s spiel about her wedding dress.

Many agreed that he simply wasn’t the right person for her.

Editor Capital_Manager_7070 shared the marriage dilemma in a post.

She explained that their six-year relationship was tested when her sister-in-law gave her a “wedding gift.”

“My mother’s wedding dress has been passed down from generation to generation and I remember being a little girl and dreaming of walking down the aisle in it,” she explained.

‘We were recently planning our wedding and were invited to a dinner hosted by my fiancé’s family which was on Sunday.’

Halfway through the meal, the sister-in-law got up and tapped her spoon on her glass to make a toast.

“She then said she would be right back before going to another room and returning with a large plastic bag,” she said.

“Everyone seemed excited, but I felt confused. I smiled awkwardly when I asked SIL what was inside the bag. She opened it to reveal the wedding dress from her wedding, which was two years ago.”

While everyone at the dinner seemed thrilled, the bride became restless.

“Everyone started applauding when SIL announced that this was her official wedding gift to us and she wanted me to wear her dress to the wedding,” she said.

“I tried to smile, but I guess I didn’t do a good job of hiding my disappointment and everyone started asking me what was wrong.

“I tried to explain how I wanted to wear my mother’s dress and that it was nothing personal, but I refused to wear my SIL’s dress. My SIL started crying when my in-laws started attacking me and comforting her. in tears and ran outside.”

She was shocked when her fiance “didn’t even come after me” and after “crying profusely on the steps for what seemed like hours”, he finally showed up – only to yell at her to get in the car.

“I was so confused, but I got in the car only to hear him berate me for making such a big scene and embarrassing him in front of his family,” she said.

Everyone seemed to be excited, but I just felt confused. I smiled awkwardly as I asked SIL what was inside the bag.

“He seemed so angry and even said he couldn’t believe he chose to marry an ‘idiot’ (his exact words).

“My fiancé also said that SIL was just trying to be cool and that her dress was more modern compared to my mom’s dress, which looked like an ‘old rag’ (also his exact words).

“I tried to tell him how much my mother’s wedding dress meant to me because I promised her I would wear it.”

She shared her suspicions that her fiance’s family had planned the gift, hoping to put her in a difficult situation.

“I don’t think I did anything wrong, but a part of me thinks I should have agreed and told SIL privately that I wouldn’t wear the dress,” she said.

Viewers warned her against continuing with the ceremony, but the reason, they said, had nothing to do with the dress.

“Give back the SIL dress. Give your ring back,” said one commenter.

“Don’t you dare marry that man!” said another.

“This is the only comment you need to read OP. Hurry!” said a third.

“Ma’am, you need to leave your entire family behind, including your fiancé. Definitely not the idiot. You just got a look at your future if you stay in this relationship,” one commenter agreed.

Many thought she should save her mother’s precious wedding dress for a worthy occasion.

“OP, DO NOT waste your mother’s wedding dress on this man. He doesn’t deserve this,” wrote one viewer.

“That’s right! OP isn’t to blame, and it’s lucky he showed his true self before getting married,” agreed another.

“This lets you see exactly what your future with him might hold. Hurry.”
