Veronica explained to Lauryn and her husband and co-host Michael Bosstick, “My kids probably take a bath maybe once a week.”

She then questioned why they would need to wash more, asking: “Why would you? Why are they dirty?

Veronica then revealed: “First of all, I let my kids do what they want.

“I have four children. I’m not going to fight with my kids over stupid little things like taking a shower.”

Verônica highlighted that her children are nine, seven, five and two years old and, in the summer, they swim in the family pool.

She continued: “Now they swim – we have a pool and they swim in the summer, so I guess we call it bathing.”

As a result of going to the family pool, Verónica shared that it had an impact on her bathing habits, adding, “So it’s probably even less than that.”

The nurse said her priority with her children is to let them make their own decisions.

She concluded: “Our children have autonomy over their bodies and their rooms and can make all the choices around that as long as they are safe.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @tscpodcastIt clearly left many speechless as it quickly racked up 411,800 views in just one day.

I was tired of not taking a shower, so I solved my problem with a cheap purchase from Amazon – it’s even more comfortable than a regular bathtub

But social media users were horrified by Veronica’s claims, and many took to the comments to express this.

One person said, “My Latina mom screamed.”

What do experts say about bathing children?

ACCORDING to experts, you may not need to wash your child every day.

The NHS recommends that you don’t need to bathe newborns and older babies every day – but if they really enjoy it, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t.

They suggest that you may prefer to wash your face, neck, hands and buttocks. This is often called “topping and tailing”.

The NHS advises parents to choose a time when their baby is awake and content and to ensure the room is warm.

Then use a bowl of warm water, a towel, cotton wool, a clean diaper and finish with clean clothes.

If you’re still unsure, don’t worry, as we spoke to experts to get all the information on bathing your kids – including top tips and whether there’s such a thing as too many baths!

Joyce French, cleaning specialist at HomeHowrevealed that the average recommended time for bathing children is about two to three times a week for children aged 0 to 5 years.

She said: “Children starting school may need a daily exfoliation; however, a thorough wash three times a week is still sufficient.

Elsewhere, parenting expert and qualified early years practitioner Kirsty Ketley shared her bath time advice.

The mother of two who shares tips about her websitesaid: “Under 5s don’t need to bathe every day unless they are very dirty, and you don’t need to use a lot of products on them.

“Often children with severe eczema, for example, may be advised to bathe with water only, two to three times a week.”

If you decide to bathe your child every day and there are no medical reasons not to, a bath before bed is a great way to relax your child.

Plus, it’s a great start to a bedtime ritual or routine.

But cleaning expert Joyce said parents should be careful about giving their children too many baths.

She said: “Showering too often can disrupt the skin’s natural protective barrier.

“This can cause dry, irritated, or infected skin, especially if you use strong soaps or boiling water.”

Another added: “My African mother would literally faint.”

A third commented: “This is wicked.”
