FluCamp uses volunteers to test new treatments for respiratory illnesses like Covid and the flu, in hopes of eradicating them completely.

During the trial, volunteers are given a diluted version of the virus (to minimize the risk of getting sick) and then given a new flu treatment to try.

Some volunteers only receive a placebo, but you will not be told if this is you.

FluCamp is available to people ages 18 to 65, and you must go through a rigorous screening process to ensure you are healthy enough to participate in the trial.

Sharing her experience on TikTok, Jenna revealed that she spent the 11 days of her trial in a small, controlled room that she was not allowed to leave.

The room was equipped with a TV, Playstation, and Wi-Fi, and Jenna was able to bring her own laptop and anything else to keep herself entertained.

Every day, she had her vital signs measured and received two doses of medication.

Jenna did not work during her time at FluCamp as she worked part-time in retail. However, if you can work from home, you can do your work while taking the test.

During her stay, Jenna received free food, however, she said there wasn’t much choice.

Jenna revealed that she really missed having a window during the trial and was excited for the 11 days to be over.

My brother and I started working when we were 16 – we now have an £8 million business and our products are even sold on Amazon

“Get me out of here,” she said.

However, she was happy to receive £3,000 for taking part in the trial, which is tax-free as it is given as compensation.

Jenna’s video, posted under the username @jenpoppy_, likely left many people intrigued as it has racked up over 1.8 million views on the video-sharing platform.

TikTok users rushed to the comments section of the videos to share their thoughts.

Side hustles in numbers

Based on new research from Finder, around 22.8 million Brits are using side hustles to boost their income.

Among those aged 18 to 23, 68% will have a parallel situation in 2024.

People aged between 24 and 42 are not far behind, with 65 percent having an additional source of income.

Side hustles are less popular among older generations, with 40% of people aged 43 to 54 having one.

Considering that 23 percent of people aged between 55 and 73 and only 7 percent of people aged 74 and over earn extra money this way.

One woman joked: “As a mother of three, this seems like a dream.”

Another person said: “I’m really thinking about doing one of these for some peace and quiet.”

A third person said: “That would be a holiday for me. Sign me up.”

A fourth person said: “I want to be chosen for this!”
