While the climate is set to improve after what feels like weeks of rain, the budget supermarket has chosen Baron Amarillo Rueda Verdejo as its wine of the week.

Previously priced at £5.99, the white wine is currently on offer for just £3.99.

Savvy shoppers took to a popular money-saving Facebook group to praise the deal, which ends on Sunday, July 21.

Sharing the deal in the group, one said: “Has anyone tried this?

Wine lovers seem to agree that cheap wine is a great choice, especially if you’re a fan of dry wine.

“It’s absolutely lovely, dry like Pinot,” said one.

A second simply described the drink as “hitting”, while another wrote: “Drank it last night!

In a separate post in the same group, someone else agreed that the wine is great for the price.

They said: “It’s lovely, not too sweet and not too dry! Worth £3.99.

“I usually drink Sauvignon Blanc and I’m very happy with it!”

Wine expert and Aldi Wine Lady, Sam Caporn, previously suggested that the wine is also great for Sauvignon Blanc fans.

Named after the green – green – color of its fruits, Verdejo is a wine grape variety from the Rueda region of Spain, the wine is the new shining star of the wine world, according to the expert.

“Sometimes we can find ourselves in a wine rut, always reaching for the same bottle. For those looking to diversify this summer, Verdejo is a great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc because it has many characteristics in common,” she said.

“It is one of the most planted grape varieties in Spain, offering citrus notes along with lime and grapefruit, balanced by a mouth-watering juicy acidity.

“It goes beautifully with chicken, fish, seafood and salads, making it the ideal option for summer. If you’re tired of the same old Sauvignon Blanc, give Aldi’s Verdejo a go – it’s got flavor and at just over a fiver it’s great value. You won’t be disappointed!”

The wine was also reviewed and approved by the supermarket’s panel of Wine Club members, who were appointed following a hunt for thirty enthusiasts to try, test and review Aldi’s range of wines.

Baron Amarillo Rueda Verdejo was a favorite across the panel, with one member calling him “one to watch,” describing him as “sweet but dry, with an incredible lightness that is unexpected!”

Another described it as “the perfect compromise between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio!

When is the best time to shop at Aldi?

WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy.

For reduced items – when stores open

Items with red stickers are rare across Aldi’s 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says none of its food goes to waste, so there are some to be found – if you’re quick.

A spokesperson for the supermarket said: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommended retail price before stores open at their best time or best before date.”

This means you’ll have a better chance of finding reduced-price foods if you go to stores as soon as they open.

Opening hours vary depending on the store, but most open from 7am or 8am. You can find the hours of your nearest store using the supermarket online store finder tool.

For special purchases – Thursdays and Sundays

Special Buys are Aldi’s weekly collection of items that it doesn’t normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools.

New stock arrives in stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally these are the best days to visit for the best one-off specials.

For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head to your local store during opening hours.

However, you don’t need to go to stores to buy a Specialbuy.

They are also on sale online, usually at midnight on Thursday and Sunday, and you can order them up to a week in advance.

As long as you spend at least £25, items will be delivered free of charge.

Remember: once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if there’s something you really want, visit asap
