A mother thought other parents would join her in laughing at the names her ex gave his other children – but they insisted his choice was worse.

She bragged about her son’s name while mocking the nickname her ex chose for his other two children.

The mother was criticized for the name she gave her son after sharing it on Reddit’s Tragedeigh forum.

She said it’s a rare occasion when she has to correct people about the spelling of her son’s name.

While acknowledging that it’s unconventional, she said his name isn’t as strange as the nickname her ex gave his children.

“My son’s name is Krystopher,” she said in a tone post now deleted.

“I know I spelled it weird, that’s not the name I’m talking about.

“My ex had two more children with someone else and named them Storm and Leviathan.”

RESISTANT CROWD

The post went viral with over 1,000 upvotes and a flood of comments from people sharing their opinions on the name.

She didn’t expect to become the butt of the joke, as Redditors turned their attention to Krystopher instead of Tempest and Leviathan.

“Krystopher is so bad,” one person said.

“Intentionally getting a common name wrong seems rude as hell and is way more cruel than naming your child with a weird but correctly spelled noun,” commented another.

“Tempest and especially Leviathan are hideous, don’t get me wrong, but the calling comes from within.”

A third commenter said that Leviathan can be shortened to “Levi,” while misspelling Christopher as Krystopher isn’t “funny, unique, or cute.”

Among the comments were Redditors saying they liked the names Tempest and Leviathan.

Meanwhile, others told her mother that Krystopher would have difficulty spelling her name throughout her life.

“When ordering things over the phone, who will have the most problems?” one person said.

“Storm, Leviathan or Krystopher? People should know how to spell storm and leviathan – and if they don’t, they can easily look it up.

“Krystopher, however, you have condemned your son to forever say the phrase ‘Krystopher spelled K…R…Y….S….’

“And the number of times your child’s important information will be lost because someone files it under Christopher’s watch will be debilitating.

“Like medical records. Job applications, tax returns and even IDs! You have harmed your son for the rest of his life.

What does Kristopher mean?

According to The collisionKrystopher is a Greek name meaning “carrying Christ”.

Alternative spellings of the boy’s name include Kristopher and Christopher.

Krystopher’s popularity has increased in recent years.

The discussion comes after another mother confessed in a post on What to expect that she hates her daughter’s name.

She said it was chosen after struggling to agree on a nickname with her husband.

She raged that “nobody understands” when she calls her daughter “Ottilie” and many people can’t spell it.

Her mother decided to nickname her “Tilly” after receiving that as a suggestion.
