A HOME owner shared a one-step trick that keeps his pool critter-free.
They explained that the technique had insects avoiding the water as if “it were the plague”.
Editor Engineer_Measly789 shared the tip in a post.
“I’ve been enjoying the sun by my pool lately and I had a crazy idea,” they said.
“You know those pesky bugs that always invade your pool party? Yes, those little bugs. Well, I found this super simple trick that keeps them away without using those nasty chemicals.”
They explained that a cheap ingredient did wonders to keep pests away.
“All you have to do is take a few stalks of lemongrass and throw [them] around the pool area,” they said.
“Bugs absolutely hate the smell of lemongrass, so they will avoid your pool like the plague.”
An additional benefit, they added, is the refreshing scent that lemongrass leaves behind, which enhances the swimming experience.
“Plus, it gives your yard a nice, fresh scent. It’s been a game changer for me this summer!”
Others shared their best tips and tricks for making pool maintenance easier.
One viewer revealed that a little washing powder went a long way in keeping the water clean.
“A little laundry soap to push pollen from one side of the pool to the other,” they said.
“One tablespoon of dish soap in 20,000 gallons of water? Yes! And the tiles will love it.”
Another created a makeshift filter to keep their pools clean.
“Align the skimmer basket with a knee-high queen-size hose,” they said.
“It traps all the small particles before they go into the filter.
“I am my pool; they usually last a few months.
“[You] You may need to place a small rock at the bottom to keep the hose from floating.”
An experienced pool owner told others about a cheap purchase that made his life easier.
“Or just buy a pack of skimmer socks on Amazon,” they said.
“They cost $10 for a pack of 30 and are disposable.”
